'The recent passing of the editor
and '' publisher of The Lucknow
Sentinel, Campbell Thompson, has.
brought comment from neighbour-
ing weekly newspapermen who
knew him well. All his life the late
editor wrote of other people and
very rarely put himself in, the.
•'headlines. We think it fitting that
these most recentwords of trib-
ute be published' in The, Lucknow
Sentinel; as a "30" to a newspaper
'job' well done.'' Some of the com .

Editor Clayton Schaus •
After being away for the week-
end,„. we came home Monday even-
ing to lean that an old' friend,'
"Cam" Thompson,. publisher ; of
The Lucknow Sentinel, had passed
away with a heart .attack last Fri-
day morning. He was only '56. We,
• and possibly hisfamily and friends,
did not know that. he .had .aheart
condition. because we Were both
from Bruce County, . we met up.
with Mr. and Mrs, Thompson. at
many conventions, all the way
from Halifax to. Vancouver, and
they were happy .companions. In
the newspaper.. `field, their son, Don
took , a course at Ryerson Poly-
technic, after:' helping in the ,office
during his school days, and then
returned to join: his dad in pub-
lishing
ub-
lishing the Lucknow paper. . They.
made: it one of ,the best all-around
papers in Bruce county, or even
in a wider circle,. • addition,
they .. built up •a fine job -printing
'business. ; Like many . others, • we.
find it hard to believe that, L. C.
. Thompson. is no longer with ' us:.
He was a good 'husband and
father, a good newspaperman, •. a
good citzen of his community, and
a. good friend..
