Dear Mr. Editor:

ute to the memory of the late L.
C. • Thompson whose obituary
appearedin the most recent
issue Of' the Sentinel. '
Personally, and as pan occasional
contributor to the Lucknow . paper,
I had maintained an association
of friendship for many years. It

Campbell Thompson was a news-
paperman widely • informed and,
possessive of keen intellect and re-
tentive memory. 'Across the years
he developed an incisive and ob-

illuminated all , his literary act-
ivities. His industry and . business
acumen in .resent decades have
expanded. the. Sentinel to its pres-
ent status as an upstanding and.
progressive weekly • journal,
For over thirty years Mr. Thomp-
son was a keen observer of the
local scene and the official voice
•of its vicissitudes: Throughout his
life he was continuously identified
with those.. elements' that, made .for

his native, town. His life' was work.
a life characterized by strict
principle and broad hufnanity. ,
