OBITUARY
PERCY HYDE.
A• native of St. Helens, who had
resided in the Kincardine . commun-
ty, for• many years, and a valued
member of the executive of the
Canadian Legion, Percy Hyde,
died in Westminister Hospital fol-
lowing a month's .illness, ' He had
been in indifferent health for a
number of years as a result of a
heart condition which had plagued
him since his discharge from the
armed forces.
Percy Hyde was a son of the late
Mr. ' and Mrs James Hyde .of St.
Helens. When he went. .to Kincar-
dine he was an employee . of the
Andrew Malcolm: Furniture. Com-
pany until enlisting and going,
overseas with the 48th Battalion,
seeing service in : the European
theatre of war. On his returii to
Kincardine he resumed his old os-
ition but; indifferent health allowed
him to take only part time employ-.
ment . and; this was denied him in
recent years.
As a veteran he spentmany
hours at the legion hall where . he
showed a devoted interest . in its
advancement and progress..
The late ''Mr., Hyde is survived
by his wife the former Irene Mac-
Kay whom hemarried at Lindsay
and a family by a previous mar-
riage whose mother predeceased
them, Mrs. ' A. (Marion) Collins of
Strathroy and' - James .of Kincar-
dine. '.Cecil Hyde of Kincardine
is a brother and Mrs: E. ' (Gladys)
Cranston of • Lucknow, a sister. He
was predeceased by a brother;
Harold .: Hyde.
The funeral service was conduc-
ted.:: at' the Linklater Funeral
Home on Monday, August 3 with
Rev. Fred H. Cromey of ,Knox
Presbyterian Church . officiating.
Interment was in Kincardine cem-
etery,
At the graveside the simple im-
pressive service of the Legion was
conducted and final tributes were
paid'. by the' officers . of the . Mac-
Donald Branch of the Royal Can-
adian Legion.
