Word . has been received here of
,the death recently at Winnipeg . •of
Mrs.., . . Gilbert McKay. She was
82,'. Burial was at Winnipeg where
Mrs. • McKay and her ° late .hus-
band resided for many years.
Mrs. McKay was the former'
Annie McNabb, 'daughter of the
late ` Rev. John . McNabb and ,Jean.'
Campbell. 'Her father,'died, in 1901
and, her mother, ' eldest daughter
of Lucknow's first merchant, Mal-
colm Campbell,, died in' .1921.
Rev. .McNabb was the first res-
ident,
esident, minister at ' . South Kirrll�oss
Church, having been ordained' -in
1867. Two yearslater he went : to
'Fort Garry ' (Winnipeg) as " a mis-
sionary,• . returning to Ontario af-
ter the hardships • of the " mission
field affected his health. 'He 'min
istered at Beaverton . until called
•to. St. Andrew's Presbyterian ,con-
gregation in Lucknow• • in 1882.
There was also' a• .Knox congre-
gation in Lucknow and when Knox
and : St. A_ndrevies. united in 1886
the respective Ministers • Rev.
Cameron and„ Rev. • McNabb vol,
untarily. resigned. : .
Mrs. McKay was predeceased.
by two sisters' Miss., Catherine,
'MKate) McNabb who, taught school'
at: the•. second Concession, Para-
mount and in • Lucknow" after the'
turn 'of the century, before going
to Winnipeg.. Her. other sister was
Mrs ,Peter Kee (Maggie). Mr.,
Kee was a tinsmith with D. C.
Taylor,' and • also choir leader of.
•the Presbyterian Church for a
txtne. '
Mrp McKay, a native of White-
church, . predeceased' his wife. He
was employed here at one time
on the dairy farm of the late
Philip MacMillan.
