Funeral Saturday
Although he. had been in poor
health for almost two years,' death
;came unexpectedly to Stewart Hall
Lavis . on Wednesday,; . May 20th:
:Stewart had.' been in and out of
hospital, several times during his
lengthy illness, and. the Saturday
prior" .to his death had returned
to Victoria. :Hospital; London, 'for
further treatment:
Mrs: Lavis, who had been most
attentive during her husband's
illness;._' was visiting with him
"when he expired ' suddenly
Stewart's. 'death at,. the ` age of
54 saddened this community,
where he. has spent much of his.
lifetmie. He was one of •-a family
of' twelve . children :born. to James
Lavis andMartha Hall:. Stewart
was born : in England . on March
13, 1910, and, came to Canada, at
'the age of. two years with his
parents who. • took up . residence
north of St.- Helens.::
Stewart was 'married" at : Sarnia
on. August` 2pth, • 1939, to Eileen
Johnstone o .'Lucknow, ' daughter
of Mrs. Jaynes Johnstone and the
slate Mr. Johnstone..
They lived in Alberta after their

returning to ,Lucknow ;to make'
their :home. Stewart had followed
