• The May meeting of the , Even-
ing Auxiliary. was held on Tues-
day evening at the home 'of Mgrs.
Noble ° Johnston with twenty ladies
'present.. Mrs. Frank- Hawthorne
opened the meeting with a poem
entitled "Making a Garden," fol-
lowed by :.hymn and prayer. The
Scripture was read in unison. Miss•
Maudie Fishergave the Medita-
tion entitled =. "The •Gift of " the
Spirit." It Was. decided to make
a donation to the Building' Fund
off the .'church and also to purchase
• some ' neededequipment for the
church kitchen. Members agreed
to cater to a 'supper for 'the
"Young Peoples' Society. The
Glad •Tidings was taken by:. Mrs.
Maude Sherwood . consisting of
.greetings • from the Moderator of
the General Assembly, : Rev. Har-
ry Lennox, on the • occasion of the
anniversary of 'W.M.S. (WD.) in
Montreal, also, . an House
by. Mrs..

. House" in 'Winnipeg. Mrs. James

• ing our study of amission work. in:.
India ,, stressing the need for more
_ Christian workers. The meeting

with regarda to the New Currie -
Wild. The Study Book was taken
by Mrs. Wm:' G. Hunter. She gave
a synopsis ,ofthe , introduction: to
the.' new book "The . Waiting
'People." An invitation was read..
from 'Westminster College -'to go
through their buildings at London.
During the business period, Mrs.
Ritchie gave ..the treasurer's re-
port, and . it . was moved and sec-
onded that.'she forwardtheir share
of the cost for the Observer...The
garden', party moneyis to be
brought into the meeting ' in June.
The , visitors reported on ' their
calls and Mrs. Earl Swan and
Mrs.. Howard Barger are the visit-
ors for the coming month. Mrs.
Chas Wilkins will have charge of
the Bible Study for the next meet-
ing. The ladies ; were .. asked . to
cater to a summer wedding, and
they agreed to do this, with. the
social committee tomake further
arrangements. A .-vote of thanks
was tendered the leaders of . th'e
4-H club, Mrs. G. Kir and . and
Ritchie;r, their F. ' . tor thee it wor k'
with the girls, and . a little gift
given them in appreciation. ,When
the girls arrived ; from school they
modelled the blouses they ' had
made, and " their exhibit "A ;Well:
Planned Costume for a Summer
Wedding" was set up, :,and; Donna
Ritchie , gave the comments. Mrs.
Kaiser :«closed the meeting with
prayer. A sale of plants ' and bulbs
was held and lunchwas served : by
Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Chas .:Wilkins
and Mrs. Jim . Hunter. The June
meeting is the Grandmother's
meeting and will be held ' at the
home of Mrs. Lloyd Hunter on

The May meeting of Hackett's
U.C.W. was .held. at the home ' of
Mrs. Barry Hackett on Thursday,
May. 21st. . '•

Chapter 6 on Miracles. Mrs. Alex
Hackett gave a reading. The roll
call was answered with a verse
with word Mother. There Were 14
members and six children present.

prayer was given by Miss `Brenda
oloman. ,John Wall gave a poem
and Thelma Purdon- a piano solo,
and Diane ' Swan a reading. Mrs.
George. Mitchell introduced . the
guest s',eaker Rev. W. R. Tris-
tram of St. Helenswho showed
slides. on Africa and gave a .com-
mentary. Mrs. Ritchie thanked
Rev. Tristram and presented 'him
with a gift, Rev. ' George :Mitchell
