April 14th in 'Wingham hospital,
where he had been• Seriously ill
for a time,
Mr. Solomon was a skilledtins-
smith andplumber, . who came
to Lucknow, some. 50 , years , ago
to 'enter the employ of.. WM. Mur -
die. For a, time he' operated his
own tinsmith' business. business. In 1916
he built the ,store now. owned by,
Lloyd ,Hall and operated .a . grocery
business .for a couple of .years
before selling to Peter Graff, but-
cher and grocery, 1918, 'who had
a butcher : shop in the McGary.
hotel, which at .that " :tine .was
doomed for , demolition.
' Mr. Solomon , returned to. the
Murdie employ and was ,with Mr.
• .Plurdie and Kenneth until his re-
tirement a few years ago, .when.
he . assistedMrs. Solomon in ; the
operation' of the greenhouse /in
which she had ' been in charge
since it . was built in 1938, and '
which more recently has been op-
,.erated by . their, son Murvin..
-Mr. Solomon was a member, of
the • Lucknow Fire Company 'for
many . years and succeeded ' the
late' Robert -Moore as " chief ' in
1938,; and served in this . capac-
ity until ' 1948 'When :he, was suc-
.ceeded by 'Kenneth Murdie
Austin was . a 'member • of the
Lawn Bowling:: Club for 'several
years., He was a friendly ,man,
and was well and widely. known
in this 'community,; where he was
,.held' in high esteem
Austin was the . son of James
Solomon and ,Annie Billings, and
was' born in. Huron • Township' on.
February 7th, 1883::On September
.. 20th, .1911, he ,married Margaret'
McGuire : at the . bride's', home : 'in
Huron Township. They ' resided
briefly in Goderich before coming.

in Lucknow . on Monday, April- 13,

in Kincardine General :Hospital,

following. a lengthy 'illness •of. over
two years, duration.
Born at the' farm home at the
foot, of Huron -Ashfield Boundary,
October 10th, 1880, son of ' the
late Mr. and Mrs: Daniel Camp-
bell, he had farmed successfully
west of Aniberley for - a` quarter
century.. '
On, October ' 21st,:: 1903, , Mr
B Campbell was ' married to Anna
Louise Mahood, daughter of ' the
. late Mr. and Mrs. John 'i, Ma-
hood ... hood, also of Huron Township,. and
rethis esteemed couple happily obi.

Mr. Campbell had been badly
■ 'crippled for some time with, an.
arthritic. condition,' but. despite his
handicap had been bright and
cheerful and continued toy enjoy
life, appreciating the company of
old friends and: always; retaining
an interest in the community
where he • had spent his lifetime.
In 19f9 Mr. 'Campbell was ap-
pointed lighthouse 'keeper at., Point
Clark, whieh position he held un-
til • 1946, when he and Mrs.:Camp
bell retired to their home at Lur-
gan, and in 1952 took up• residence
