GIRL GUIDE' NEWS
The regular meeting . of the lst
Lucknow Guide Company was held
on Friday, April 17th, at 7:30' p.m.
After roll call and collection of
dues, points were given for the.
"Spring Flower" . patrol competi-
tion. Lieutenant then ledan ac-
tive game. Patrol corners follow-
ed and , the Swallows appeared
especially busy.
A work' period: was , next. on the
programme, during. which Captain
taugh ' compass with the. second •
class guides, „Company leader
worked on knots with. the tender-
foot . guides, and Janet . Carruth-
ers helped the recruits.,; Lieuten.

Lloyd Ackert .of Holyrood, .was
the guest• speaker atthe regular
meeting of the Wingham Lions
Club last week. He was introduced
by Lion DeWitt Miller.
Mr. Ackert, ,.who .travelled. to
;Greece last summer to attend the.
Boy Scout World Jamboree, show-
ed pictures of the rural and urban
life of thecountry, particularly
suitable to the occasion which . was
the annual farmers' '. night' of the,
club. Mr. Ackert, also recounted
some of the past history of. Greece
and Turkey, . explaining . the ' cen-
turies-old. antagonisms ,which ac-
count in part for :the strife on
present-day Cyprus.

agree to co-operate with 'East Wa-
wanosh Township in the purchase'
and . maintenance thereof . on 'a 50-
50 basis of approx. five ' acres of
park of the N.W. part of *Lot 30,
concession six, East Wawanosh
Township (Cyril Boyle, present
owner) at $70.00 per acre for the
purpose of 'establishing a.: play-
