Unit' 2 United Church Women
Unit 2 ' held ` their April meeting
in ; the fellowship room of the
church. Mrs. E. Wightman• opened
the meetingwith the poem "Life
has Three Phases;" followed by
hymn 351 and 'the Lord's prayer
repeated in unison. Fifteen mein --
hers . and one visitor answered the
roll call. The. minutes were read
and adopted and the reports giv-
en. The offering was taken.
The general meeting willbe held
April. 21st, with Mrs. McLellan,
Publicity, Director from Five Oaks
as the guest ' speaker. ,
Mrs. K. Cameron took'' the chair
for the program. The worship was
taken from .-The• Marks of the
Christian Community.;. The call to
'worship being ''"The Foran of a
Servant. :Psalm 743 was . read re-
sponsively.

meditation and Mrs. E. Thom led

study, this month,. Women of In-
dia, was capably given ` by Mrs.
K. Cameron. Women in .India are
more active in all : fields than any
other country in the world. , Three
special women were chosen. Mad-

known for her political career.
Dr. Mary Verghese, the Wheel-
chair Surgeon by Mrs. G. Whitby

and. Dr. Helen .Huston, 'the med-
ical missionary by ` Mrs.. G. Mac-
Donald. Weenjoyed a recording
by Marion Anderson. The : meeting
closed with the mizpah benedic
_ tion and Mrs. A. Irwin ' conduct-
ed a Bible . contest.

The April meeting of Unit •`4
of the U.C.W., was held on. Tues-
day, 7th, at the home ' of . Mrs.
J. Boyle.: . The convenors were
Mrs. L. Ashton, Miss E. Plum
steel, and Mrs. G. ' Struthers
The Worship program, whose
theme' was Easter, was made par-
ticularly enjoyable by the rendi-
tion of a duet by Miss Mary ' An-
drew
ndrew and Mrs. J. Boak, -accom-
panied by Miss Mary Filen Shiells
at the piano, : and two piano solos,
the .. first by little Miss '. Lorraine
Boyle, : and the second by Miss
Mary Andrew. The.. study. for the
month on the subject "The World
of Indian Women," . was given, by
Mrs. E. Goyette. The adaptability
of the women from India was
stregsed, reference " with•a ce to her
role in
a' nation where a social
revolution is 'going on, at the pre-
sent time, against poverty, dis-
ease . and ignorance.. The : meeting
ended, after a brief business per-
iod, •.with" delicious 'refreshments
served. by the'', hostesses.

Unit .5 ;of U.C.W.met . at, the
home of Mrs. Jas. Ritchie _with:
an attendance of 19. Mrs. Jack
Ackert conducted the devotional
exercises with -Mrs. Mel. Morri-
son reading the,. scripture.- Mrs.
Robt Finlay assistant leader; took
the ' chair for the . business. The
roll call was answered by an'
Easter verse; Minutes were read

and 'a ' favourable report on the
tea and notion sale was given by
the treasurer. Mrs. Gordon Mor-
rison dealt with ,the topic. Read-
ings were given by Mrs. Geo. Jar -
dine -and-Mr_s. J C.- McNab.' Mrs.

The C.W,L. of St,' Augustine held
their monthly; meeting .in. •the par-
ish hall on Tuesday, April. 7 with
a good.attendance.. This was . a
joint meeting with St. Marys,.
Lucknow. Fr:. • Malak opened the
meeting with the league prayer
after which the minutes and: fin=
ancial statement were read by the
sec'ty treas, Mrs. Gordon Foran.
Fr. Malak said the Sunday, Visi
for is now 'coming and will' be
at the back of the church each
Sunday. The pres. Mrs. Gus Red-
mond thanked. Fr. Malak• and the
ladies for their . co-operation in the
past year. At the close • of the
meeting Fr. 1VIalak ',asked: the la-
dies to .'comeinto the rectory for
lunch, which was. enjoyed. by all.
The next meeting will . be held in
the parish • hall on ,Tuesday, May

Thee theme of the April meeting
of Slakes U.C.W . held at the home
of Mrs,• . `Wm..: Irvin:'. on Tuesday,
April 7, was "Aline With His Life".
Mrs. J. Irvin conducted, the meet-
ing which . opened with hymn 196.
The scripture lesson;. was taken: by
Mrs. C. Kilpatrick; Mrs. J. Little
gave • the chapter from the :Study`
Book. The study..from."The.. Word
And The Way" was ;taken 'by Mrs.
K. Cranston. Mrs. J. Arnold gave
the. hearld's 'report, this time an.
interesting story. of Pakistan. The
roll, call answered by 15 members
was "a . quotation of ' woman in the
Bible". An invitation was read
from Hackett U.C.W.. to attend
,their Thankoffering meeting on
Thursday afternoon, April 16. A re-
port : was given on the . Presbyterial
held at : Exeter. There will be a
plant sale following the May meet=
ing. The meeting , was closed with'.
hymn 21 • and the benedicition.
Lunch was served by the : hostess •
assisted by Mrs. R. Phillips.

Augustine C.W.L.in St. Augustine
Parish Hall on Tuesday, ' April 7.

ish' council elected for a 'two year

' The .April meeting of Zion U'C.W.
was held at the home of Mrs. Nets

and the Roll Call was answered by
20 members. The Devotional per-
iod was' taken by , Mrs, Eldon .Rit-:
'chie, with Mrs. Frank Ritchie read-
ing the scripture. The Study Book
was taken by Mrs. Jack Gardner
and Mrs, Marshall Gibson had the
Bible Study' for this meeting and
Mr. Kaiser will review Chapter 5
for the ~ May meeting. A reading
was given by Mrs. D. A, . Tracked,
and ' Catherine Dunsmuir sang. :a
solo. During the business period

pose" was discussed -and the trea-
surer is to order a sample copy.
