key, card parties ' and a banquet

vious, less - than fifty people 'at-
tended the annual' meeting of the
Ashfield;: Township Federation. of
Agriculture held in :the Legion
Hall on Tuesday of last week.
President Kelso MacNay and his'.
executive engaged William Tilden,
past president of 'the Ontario Fed-
eration of Agriculture . and:: a noted
agricultural leader . as guest spea-.r
ker and . it is unfortunate that
more •farm people did not avail
themselves of the opportunity ' to
hear this noted . speaker.
Ladies of the Slakes Commun-
ity, catering their second banquet
in as many ; nights, .. dished up
some fine food but 'unfortunately
much of •it' went uneaten Mrs.
Ross Cumming 'entertained with
piano numbers before and during
the meal. Clark Johnston enter-
tained with vocals with guitarac-
companiment during the 'program.
Warren .Zinn thanked the ladies
who ' catered' • and: Mrs: Jim• Ar;
nold replied.' Brief comments
were made by Steve Stothers and
Rev. Rod McLeod.

on -Bruce, when called upon . re-
ferred to recent regulations by the
Department of Highways requiring
the removing of gate signs. :by,
farmers on the highway. Mr.
Gaunt reported 'that as a result
of presentations by the Ontario
Federation, these regulations have
ben withdrawn, .temporarily at
least. Highways Minister Mac-
Naughton has 'announced that no
signs would be taken rdowii so
long as they don't,block the, view.
In closing,. Mr.' Gaunt paid tri-
bute to the Federation-; "they', one
association that. speaks for the
majority of the farm people in
Ontario." ' pow

would be needed; to feed and°sell'
.livestock through ordinary ch'an
nets, . a return of $14.60- per acre
on 170 acres; to feed and process
your own .:livestock, $19 , per acre
on .130 acres would provide the
$2500. ' Mr. MacNay' felt that the
farmer's' salvation was to feed and
process his own: livestock.
