Mr.,` Campbell Thompson,
%, Lucknow Sentinel
Dear Mr. Thompson•,
I notice in the Lucknow paper
wherethe game' of curling is be-
ing revived in your town. Many
"years have gone, by since Luck -
now was one of the leadingcurl-
ing clubs ii the . Bruce Peninsula
and it is gratifying to see it' be-
ing brought ;into .operation •again;
I have,for some time, been.
trying tocollect a complete set of
the Annuals issued by the Ontario.
Curling Association and have suc-
ceeded except for the following
years:; ..1876,.' '1878, 1881 and. 1896.
I thought you might be ableto
assist me' .in my endeavour. You,
being well , acquainted with . the
people , in and around nd Luckno
w,
might possibly give . me a . lead as
to, ' where to inquire. No doubt
these annuals : ' are . in the book:
•case of some family. ` •
I noticed, you mentioned " hav-
ing had a letter from .. Mr. R. G.
Douglas! of Ottawa and from his
remarks he recalled curling
in Lucknow. He may have ' some
of '` the annuals I ' am searching
for and _ I ; would appreciate.. you
sending me his address. so that
I may write to him and' enquire.
'Yours truly;:
Fred Lucas'
