He was the oldest gent at the Fair. and is known far and wide, hav- ing operated a grocery business in Lucknow for . many years; MISS JESSIE MacKAY• Jessie, a resident of Lucknow and a Kinloss Township . native was present for. most of the '.af- ternoon :at . 'Marion' Bell, a native . of Kincardine, has been engaged` as. a language teacher at Lucknow District :, High School and has. commenced her : duties here. Miss Bell has a total of twenty, - one years .. teaching experience and is a specialist in her field. She has taught in Continuation and High School, Collegiate, Vocation- al School and Night School. Miss Bell has many'` other -cert- ificates', should: make' her presence at Lucknow District High School of great :value'to the students. Nearly all of her teaching experience was gained at Port Arthur and Fort William. Of local interest is the fact that she IS • the daughter of Jack Bell of Kincardine, well . known to' 'many in this community. .He has. served onvarious town associa- tions including chairman of the elementary school board in ' Kin- cardine. The Lucknow ' Board and principal L. E. Goyette were inform- ' ed on the opening day of school that the ' previously ' engaged. French teacher would be .unable to fulfill his contract because health reasons.' Needless to say, those in charge are • quite pleased • to • be able to secure a teacher. with the experience and qualifi- cations of Miss Bell. • Mrs. 'Jack Ackert of Holyrood has been a patient in Victoria ITospital in London fo' about ten days where she underwent surg- ery. • HE' CENTENNIAL FAIR Anyone 'who, attended. the. Luck- n o w Agricultural, Society's .Cen- tennialFair here Saturday knows that : it was a successful one, per- haps the most successful fair the group has ever sponsored. * * .* There's no doubt about the value of a parade in getting the. people out, .and. Lueknow had one Sat- urday that attracted people from far and wide to see. Music' was plentiful, • with . the Sarnia ' Sertomanaires ` drum and and• bugle band . thrilling those in attendance. ' The group led the parade down town and then were bussed back to the parade origin point- and came . down. the second time on :the' ail en 1 of the par= ade: Teeswater Highlanders Youth- ful pipe . band ; no doubt were the favourite . of many fair goers, particularly of the older generation who like their music Scottish.
