Youth Helpless For Six Hours After
Thrown from Farm Tractor In FieId

Welsh, .14 -year-old .son of Mr:, ,and.
Mrs. Eldon ,,Welsh of •the ' 6th, cone cession'of Kinloss, just ,east of the
Holyrood road, was thrown 'from
a tractor and lay helpless and in-
° jured on the ground for about six
hours. '
Harvey was at home alone. Hie.
dad is employed by the Township.
of Kinloss and his mother and
sister : work in .Listowel.: Harvey
apparently decidedto take a spin.
on ' the :tractor;. and . in ,doing so
hit a bump ;'and was thrown from
° the machine. He was dragged be-
hind the machine for a short' dis
tante with his clothing being torn
from his body before . the youth
was . freed and left lying : on the
ground. The tractor continued on
a short distance, ` hit a fence and
stalled.
This accident occurred about
noon and it was,. between six and
seven that evening ' 'before his
plight`: ° was -. discovered.. Harvey
dragged himself, a. short piece at
a. time, to a shade tree where ;he:'.
remained..for the `afternoon. His
injuries later revealed . a .dislo-
cated:• 'hip • and a broken '.collar
bone. He was in considerable
pain during " his . length of time a-
lone in the field. His. 7 -month-old'..
pup, who was nearby at the time
of the 'accident, . never left his,
side and chased cattle away on
one. occasion: •
• His. father, Eldon Welsh, arriv-'
ing home . from work was not .at,
first alarmed' by his son's ab-
sence, but on noticing the trac-
tor missing, he began to , fear for
the worst. • He noticed the trac-
tor against the fence and at first
thought • the' boy might be, under
it, However, he found the injured
youth in the ' field and with : the
aid- of a ; neighbour, ,Ronnie ' Mc
Quillin, he was taken to Wingham
Hospital. •

port. Following . this the group
spent. some . time shopping at' the
Yorkdale: .Shopping Plaza. Don
Cameron is teacher at the school.

time in recent weeks. Allan
was taken to Wingham on Sun,

work only two weeks from
his second spell 'in the hospit
al...
Allan's health in recent
weeks has not been ` good, hay-
,ing • been. bothered with a
heart . condition he has been
afflicted with since birth.
He is greatly ' missed at The
Sentinel where he 'has; become
a very valuable linotype • op-
erator. •
In the newspaper • business,
wheredeadlines are part of •
every : operation, it is dif-
ficult to' operate when . a key
man is ' removed, particularly
in a business ' the 'size . of
The Sentinel.' •

held at Camp Glen -Mac, near
Seaforth.. The camp leaders will

rge Whitby, ' Mrs. Jim Boyle, and
District Commissioner, Mrs. Jack
MacDonald. , This camp will be
from August 5 to 15th. •
' On .June 12th, Lieutenant Mrs.

South America, She found the
negros there very , friendly and is
looking
forward g to travelling to
Sieve Leone, where •she ' expects
the negros will be ' , the same
friendly,, helpful people • as the
negros in Barbados were.
A trip to . Texas to attend the
48th International Christian En-
deavour Convention ea' a delegate
was also 'planned by Audrey ~for
the first two weeks in' July,. The
convention is in Dallas July .6-10.

her. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans
