Mr. and 'Mrs, Culbert Were mar-
ried on June 23rd, 1915, by Rev.
Bridget of the Ashfield 'Circuit at
the home ` of the : bride's . parents
on .the 9th of ' Ashfield:,,. Mrs. Cul-
bert was the former Annie Fitz-
gerald, daughter of .'Robert Fitz
fgerald - and; 'Margaret - Egan..Mr,
Culbert was born ` at. Crewe . ' and
lived on the 9th ' Concession : of
Ashf•ield until., he was , married: He.•
is the son of James 'Culbert and
Margaret Dreaney. e '
Mr. and Mrs: Culbert took . up
farming on ` the ' 6th of : Ashfield.
In 1929 they moved. to the Smith
McLean ' farm 'on ,the outskirts of,
.Mrs.
. Lu n , � where'Mr' and
cl£ ow Bob.
Campbell •now reside. In 1960 Mr.
Culbertpurchased their present,
home on "Standpipe' Hill", 'Luck -
now," from .Donald McCharles.
Mr.. and Mrs. Culbert have `a '
family of three •. daughters, one
son and eleven grandchildren.- All
were present for the dinner name-

daughter, Mrs, Torn Jordan, Doug
caught an early train, from Lon-.
don on Sunday morning. He wes
to arrive in .Nova Scotia on Mon-
day afternoon.

A good crowd attended the ,an-
nual Ladies' Night of the "Luck
now Lions Club on Monday. even-
ing.

win ; Hall. ' ,Bob MacKenzie . pro-
posed a toast to . the ladies to
which Mrs. Elwin . Hall replied.
Mrs. ,'Bill . Scott ' of Ripley; favour-
ed with vocal solos.'•
An appeal::: was made for trans-
portation for the: minor softball
teams. A motion was passed that
the Lucknow Lions Club . would
continue to contribute to the sum-
mer swimming. The ladies offer-
ed

attended the Troopingof the Col-
ors" Wand the presentation ,of the
new colors of they Toronto Scot-
tish Regiment which : took place
in the Varsity Stadium. Her . Ma-
jesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen
Mother, Colonel -in -chief, made the
presentation.
On Sunday afternoon they at-
tended "The Laying 'Up Of The
Old Colors" 'which took place in
Knox Presbyterian Church', on
Spadina Road, : which is the church
of the. Toronto 'Scottish Regiment.
Rev. Dr. Wm Finch :gave , the,
address. -
Donald .MacNay is - one of the,
captains of the .'.Regiment .and,
Gordon is : also •a • member..:Both
took part in the event.

• The youth dived off'. a pier,
came 'up ' struggling a n d - went
down . again. The water was six
to seven .feet : deep .at the • spot
and, his rescuers had some • dif-
ficultyin bringing .him to shore.
Mouth 'to mouth. resuscitation
was immediately started, but des-
pite the feet that the youth had
been in the water only 'a very
short time,•: he could not •be•.;re-
vived. An ambulance ,arrived from
Chatham` and machine resuscita-
tion was continued for • about an
hour. •
Peter is the eldest of a family.
of seven, of Mr. anti- Mrs. Rosaire
Donais of R.R. 2,,. Tilbury. He is
survived by his parents, ' 2 br'o-
thers' and 4 sisters ;and grand-
parents.
The funeral. was, held in Til-
bury
i bury on Wednesday,
It is the second drowning acci-
dent in the:' Lucknow Donais f am-
ily in, three. years. Three years
ago in August, Joe •Sauve, 13 -
year -old nephew of Mr. and Mrs,
Henry Donais, , on Mrs. Donais
side of the family,drowned at a
location about 20 miles from .the
scene of Sunday's tragic '. acci-
dent. '
