ton on Saturday, April 17th .at the'
'age of 77 . '
Elliott was the son of the ,late
William. • J. Little. and Amelia
Whitely; pioneer ' residents of ., the
village of . Lucknow,, Elliott's. fa-
ther
a-ther came to Lucknow as a 'youth
of 18 in.. • the year 1869 with • his'
parents and family. '• His father,"
Joseph Little, ' was • a , shoemaker
and William, Little followed • this,
trade in Lucknow . retiring from
business in 1938 Elliott's mother
was :Amelia Whitely, daughter of
Robert Whitely who ran a hotel,
,business in Lucknow many •years.
ago With :the death of Elliott
Little, a connection with .the early
pioneer community is. severed.
As a • young man, Elliott ' 'lived
in Chicago and .acted , as sports-
writer there for a time. He was:
'an. ardent '' sportsman and. never
lost his interest in. anything that
had: to do with the 'sporting com
inunity. The ' writer has in his,
possessi . an ' autographed• base-
ball
ase ball signed by ;all .. members , of
the , Chicago.. Cub -baseball . team'
of ' some twenty years -ago, and
secured for . us ;by .Elliott. He waS
a neighbour. to us for many. years
residing: 'in the family residence'
now owned . by Bud Hamilton' on
"Outram Street After • his .years
away, ',' he returned . to live there
'with 'his patents.. His mother pas-
:sed away in May, 1944 and his
.father in. July, 1948. At the time
of• his .death, • Elliott's father was
96 . years of age: and Lucknow's
oldest resident., A . sister, .. Mary,
died : at age 22 • and ' a -;brother
Robert •at, age 9. • .
• ,Following •the death .of .his . fa-
ther., Elliott lived permanently' in
hotels • in Goderichand: later. spent
a ` .number 'of years in Goderich
Hospital before going to Clinton:,
,There .•,are no . immediate , :sur-
vivors. Harry •`Tichbourne 'a 'n d
Mrs. • 'Harry , Dodd of Goderich are
cousins -of Mrs. Little. Other con -
sins ;:live at a .further distance.
Mrs: Dodd and Mrs. Tichbourne
(the former Agnes Kennedy): of
this community made- funeral ar-
rangements' and attended the fun-.
