THE; WAY 1 SEE IT The suggestion' that ;some .North Ashfield , pupils, together.. with some 'West Wawanosh pupils, combine to form a new public school in Lucknow is a poor sol- ution ''toour school problem: I think , the move 'should . be Luck - now to the Townships: Lucknow could, 'then, be divided . at the County Line or all go to the South. With •. a combined -Lucknow, Wa- wanosh and Ashfield ' school, we. could have a fully graded school of sixteen or eighteen rooms. I think all parents would prefer to have their children:fully fully protect- ed by insurance. while riding to and from ; school, rather than un-. protected while 'walking in to- day',s traffic, and 'under supervis- ed play while at school.;: A school of this size would 'require about thirty-five to fifty acres of land and a lagoon .type of .sewage ,dis posal. ' Where could we . find a suitable site in 'Lucknow?: . With county assessors • and• the possibility of a county. education- al levy in the very near future, this could -cause a problem. May- be Lucknow should go back • to Huron County: The school being located inthe country would give the 'townships control which I consider . is their right. Both Bruce and Huron Coun- ties have set 'up Consultive . Com- mittees., on Education. ' Who . the members are or when they meet I' .do not know but; in my opin- ion, these committees have one of the 'most ' important jobs. that county councils have been called .on : to decide . in the last. 'twenty- five ' : years:' ' Let .us consult' ,them and take. a long look at ' our pro- blem. Our minister.. of education is offering the rural student equal opportunity. with the ` urban stu- dent. What we do now could have a . great:. effect ' on the type of education and the • cost of .educa tion in this district in 'the • dis tant future. Grey County is lead- ing the way. Let iis: i~ollovv; and act soon,: before/ it is too late. Please note that these are my own ,personal views and notthose of the Ashfield School Board. S. W. Gibson PURCHASES ' COUNTY FARM Ralph .
