Meet:
Holyrood Monday
now uiscuss
There..,,arealot f hurdles a-
head ofeach board, but seems
a very strong; ,possibility: that . Luc -
know' Public School Board and
Kinloss Township School Area
Board might soon be united un-
der one. school' board that ' would
govern: the public school matters'
for both municipalities.
The two boards ' met . with ' Pub-
lic School. Inspectors Keith Wal
die ' of ' Bruce and J. H. Kincaid
. of Huron . in the Kinloss • Central
School' on. Monday of this week.
Monday's ' meeting was merely
to explore • and • discuss future
school planning as ' it pertains to.
the two, boards under, the ' new
Ontario. Department of.Education
plan.
• Under this plan, it, is . the aim
of the department to co-ordinate
smaller school sections under. lar
ger governing` boards and.;in : lar-
ger
ger schools with . added ;facilities
. which are not •'available. 'or work-
able in smaller schools. •
EXPLAINS HURON:` PLANS:
J. H. Kincaid, .who was invited
to the meeting to explain .plans
'for :'Huron, County, .advised the.
boards that the Townships of
Ashfield a n d West Wawanosh
were . presently dtteussing an ar-
ea that : would embrace the . two
townships •and .'should', t h e two
boards come to an agreement, a
new ,school to handle the two
townships would' " seem a very
strong possibility. •
Location for this school " would.
likely be on the Lucknow-Dungan-
non.
ucknow Dungan -non. road in the vicinity of the'
9th concession," although this is
a matter that would' have to be
more ` fully discussed by . the two
boards. , •
WHAT ABOUT NORTHERN •
PUPILS?
One of" the main reasons for
inviting Mr. Kincaid to the meet-
ing in Bruce was toseek his
advice on the possibility, • : if Luc -
know and . Kinloss formed an ar-
ea, of retaining some of the pu-
pils -in--Northern Ashfield : a .n d
West Wawanosh Townships pre-
sently attending Lucknow Public
School.
The board was . interested ' to
learn if these pupils would be part,
of the. new Ashfield -West Waw-
anosh ,Area, should itbe form-
ed. Mr. , Kincaid said • that mat-
ters of this r type wouldbe de-
cided by . a referee and in view,
of Lucknow sitting . on the bord-
er line of these two townships,
he would advise discussing it,
with the• Huron boards concerned.
He said there is nothing to pre-
vent counties overlapping in, the
formation of areas, but if any
part of any other township should
be regarded as more . suited ' for
the Lucknow-Kinloss area, they
would no :.longer . "buy" their • ed-
ucation from . this board, as be-
fore, but would : be incorporated
as part •of that area.
