hall on Thursday evening with.

in the chair. The meeting opened
with the .Ode and thee Mary Stew-
art Collect.Minutes and commun.

It was decided ' 'not to send a
delegate. to the'. officers confer-
ence at 'Guelph. The . . theme of

Rayiaard Ackert reported . on Ed-
ucation, Mrs. William Eadie on
Historical Research .and .Mrs.
Lorne Eadie on' Agriculture and
Canadian Industries,
Mrs. ' Lloyd Ackert and Mr.' L.
E. Goyette were . appointed jud-
• ges for 'the writing contest .which
was the first verse of . 0 Canada.

outlined the present day trends in
Education and explained the cour-
ses which . are being .taught at
Lucknow and the extra . courses
which are given at the Wingham
school. The speaker was intro-
duced by Mrs. Raynard . Ackert
and thanked .,.by Mrs. Lyman Sut-
ton who presented him : .with :.a
gift in -appreciation.
The meeting closed by singing
"God Save the Queen" and :the
Institute ' Gra c e. •Refreshments
were served by the hostesses

How many times have reEt-
lized • the successes that' the stu=
dents, of Luclmow High have ach-
ieved besides their • academie
ones? Well, if you haven't realiz-
ed these successes as of yet I
think it's time- "you—did- •••:-.----for
many in ,the' surrounding. ateas
Tiwoughout the past few months,
there has been a team of girls
that , has brought more fame -• to
our school than perhaps anythhig
else in the school's • history. The
team is our Senior Girls' ,Batket-
ball Team and the fame they
won is the District Championship.
The "Guards" for the team are:
Peggy Button, Esther Gibson,
Wendy MacKenzie; Linda O'Don-
nell and. Barbara Cameron; the.
forwards 'are: June Ackert, Bar-
bara Rathwell, Beverly Rathwell,
Barbara , Nelson; Marg :Thompson,
Brenda Haldenby and Jane Joynt.
Elaine Murray, Jean. Sutton and
Sharon Stanley from the. Jr.
Girls' team also' helped the Sen-
ior. Girls out.
Throughout 'the basketball sea-
son, they defeated teanis from
TiViartiM, Kincardine, Sacred
'Heart —• the Wallte*in Separate
School, and Saugeen (Port Elgin)
with only the .•Chesley teani de-
feating them. ,Only Chesley and
throughout th,e,' season so they had

The thrill that one :achieves in
being on such a learn must be
great. AnYone 'who,. saw these
.at play will long remember
them. Our own principal, Mr. L.
E.. Goyette, has said that it has
been a long time since 'he has
seen such a group; I personally
would like to congratulate these
girls and also •Mr. Dennis their
coach. A team can be good, but
with a good coach it can be bet-
ter. Mahy times have heard
merabers of. the‘.teani• say that it
took Mr. Dennis to pull •• them
through, soinething,,,,that is not
I hope „that I have given you,

should be interested in. School
Spirit •is, that which makes, a
school strong • and school spirit
comes only from° those who sup-
