Lucknow Igunicipal Council • has.
decided ' to ' call ` • :a vote of the
ratepayers, in the community to

ent-inelthis. week that the .. vote is
being called for two prime rias -
ons.
Theresult. ' of the recent ques-
tionnaire on the matter conduct
ed by the Lions Club. was 'incon-
clusive. About 109 .property own-
, ers 'd ' not indicate whether they
werefor the new addition or'for
renovating the present structure,
and council do not`feel that' the
percentage .that have, 'expresse d,
their opinion is large enough to
pact on ' .
The 'other factor that is ' promp-
ting the ' calling of the vote is the
uncertainty in the operation : of
The Lucknow . Wood Products.
Reeve Joynt '• stated.; that : when.
'Che original plans were made, e, the_.
plant was employing about 80
people. The present payroll is not
large and the future : of : the plant
is , not ,completely . clear. , t . the
inaugural meeting of cotuiNI,• the
Reeve. suggested that for the time
being 'council : should forget about

the, operation of this industry 'and
look to other fields for newindus-
trial possibilities • . .
In view of factors, °and
considering the addition could be
classed as a luxury item, council
felt they should have • the •go.
ahead or . otherwise , by a vote of
the ratepayers in the 'village. The
vote will be held ' as soon as pos
sible: . .
The plan for the addition as
presented by council on the re-
cent questionnaire ' is as follows:

The maximum cost to the . vil
lage : of Lueknow would be: $35,-

over 20 years at 51%. The an-
nual ' payment, including princi-
pal. and interestwould be $2900
with an estimated revenue, from
the arena expected . to be inthe
neighbourhood . of $1430. Thi. s
would leave an annual ;balance
of $1500 which would be 11 mills
on the local • ; assessment..;. •
• The alternative to the addition
plan as presented is:
Renovation, of present 'building;
Interior and' . Exterior Painting.
and roof . repair; 'Renovation . of
dressing rooms and, rest room
facilities' and present "assembly

The cost :of tile: alternative plan
is : expected to be •'a minimum of
