CATTLE TO MOVE AGAIN
Cattle. shipments got underway •
again locally, and^,elsewhere, `the
end of the week, indicating an early
improvement in the existing beef

tle began to move at once following
the announcement by the Wartime

ward revision of wholesale beef
prices. and .a stricter control :of re-
tail prices. •
The board "announced. last week
that the maximum :wholesale price
of beef would go up. $1.50 per cwt.
for ,the autumn period. The new or-
der specifies October 13. to Decem-
ber 23 as the period for which the
increase of $1.50 applies. ' There-
after, there will be further increases
of 50 cents per' hundredweight, ef-
fective on the following dates: De-
cember 24, February 11, March 25
and Aprir 29. The 'final increase,' of
25 ' cents, will go into effect May
27th:
The' level of next June—that is
the price which goes' into effect May'
27—ill wthen constitute the ceiling,
with prices'free to fluctuate season-
ally under that ceiling in accordance
