Flying . Over Europe '
Sgt: -Observer Alex ' MacKenzie,
son of Mrs., Wein. MasKenzie, of
Lucknovb, is having some thrill-
ing experiences with the R.C.A,F.
over the continent. While' letters
from; Alex reveal nothing definite
about air operations, - he infers that
their flights have been very suc-
cessfule4nd' some of them have re-
sulted innarrow escapes. •He re-
ferred also to the' superiority of the
R.A.F. and R.C.A.F., over the Ger-
man airmen.. He told; of a recent
seven-day leave, in''ivhich• fishing,
horseback riding and bicycling were
a pleasant. relaxation' after long
hours • of strenuous flying duties.

.The Montreal Daily Star recently
carried a picture of Pilot Officer.
Art Young, well known here, and
who is new 'a prisoner of 'war in
Germany.
Since going overseas a year age,
Art has been a member of an R.A.F.
Spitfire' night fighter squadron. The
26 -year-old flier is, a graduate of M
West Hill school in ontrea1,' Where
his parents reside. At the time of
his enlistment he was on the
staf
of the Dominion' Bank. He trained
at Three • Rivers and Camp Borden,
graduating in May last year. Well
"known asp an athlete, he was a mem-
ber of the N. D. 'G. water polo team.
He is an accomplished -pianist and
was formerly assistant scoutmaster
of the 37th N. D. G. troop.
