•Farm -folk, and village dwellers like those. of Nazareth arid Beth-
lehem,. seem always to have a, sort .of prior claim upon, Christmas joy..
Kindliness is traditional among them-ha•s been,
since Christmas carne to us!
probably,, ever.
That friendly spirit, of 'neighborliness and helpfulness which ought
to be—but is not -universal; is most . •common .far away from the big
cities.
•
Infact, it would seem to those whose lives are cast ' among com-
petitions, clamorings, vises incessant, that it must be easy to live
holily and therefore in :quiet happiness, for those who exist. nearest 1
to the birds and the other un -anxious •beings; w°hb depend simply up- -
on their AlI-Father for all their needs.
But life is still a struggle' for every• one of Os mortals; whether
• country or farm-dveellers, none of us is entirely withoutcares, needs
and sorrowst

The- world is ever with us, with its. failures and' 'stupidities, its
• pressors, its greeds, its wars, .its poverties.

so many things we can do to make
. For Christmas teaches us that
