A group of Red Crossworkers
met at Slakes hall on Thursday.
Four quilts were . put in frames,
but the attendance was not up
to expectations, so they were not
all . completed. We hope to see
more workers next Thursday.

Citizens here were ' sorry to
hear that Thomas Dickson, Sr.,
was stricken with a • paralytic
stroke early Monday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Dickson observed
their golden wedding anniver-
sary yesterday (Wednesday) and
their family had planned a sur-
prise celebration for the occasion.
Miss Minnie Dickson of the God-
erich hospital staff is at her fath-
er's bedside. Mrs, Fred Dickson
and :two . .young children arrived
on Tuesday from Kelowna, B.C:
Fredwent overseas this spring.

south part of his house evacuated
for a basement in order to • instal

Mrs. Matthew Shackleton in
Dungannon and presented them
with two lovely occasional chairs.
Mrs.. Raymond Finnigan read an
appropriate address • and William
Hasty and Cecil Blake made the
presentation. Mr. & Mrs. Shackle-
ton, who recently moved to Dun=
' annon,, were valued members of
Crewe. church, where Mr. Shack-
leton served on the Board . of El-
ders and Mrs. *Shackleton was
an . active W.M.S. worker.

pointed caretaker of the. United
Church„since the resignation of
Roy , Rutledge.
