The synod. of Hamilton and

plete .steps for- I the merger of
Huron and Maitland presbyteries
in May next year.
Underwent Emergency 'Operation
Mrs. James • Cleland underwent
an emergency operation in the_
Toronto General Hospital, Tor':
onto, on Sunday, We understand
that she is doing fairly well. Her
friends will wish her a speedy
-recovery. It is just about a year
ago that Mrs. Cleland i underwent
an .operation in the hospital here.

Elected To Council
Alex .Butler, popular Goderich
butcher for fifteen years, was el-
ected tc$ the. Council Board of
that town last week. It was his

first try at municipapolitics and
he finished in third place in' a
field of seven. Alex is well known
in Lucknow.

Harry.. Logan Passed
Away In Toronto
The death of Harry Logan oc-
curred -on • Tuesday of . last week
at the home of his daughter, Mrs.
(Rev.) Oswald Drummond, Tor
onto.
The funeral ,w
Fri-
day to London where burial was
.made,, and . where Mrs. Logan,
formerly Margaret' Johnston of
Lucknow was laid, to rest about
two years ago.
Mr. and Mrs, Logan resided in
Teeswater for some .twenty-one
years, where Mr. Logan was
clerk of the village for a lengthy
period. For many years he was a
Bruce -County auditor, retiring in
1942 due to ill health. For the
past year he' has been quite
poorly.
Prominent in civic, fraternal
and church. life, 1d1r: Ulan was'
a' member of Tee(swater United
Church, was a past master of
Teeswater Masonic Lodge and
was 'a past district deputy 'grand"

Silver Cup, donated by Capt. T.
W. Platt to the lady having the
highest score . for the year in
rifle shooting. A marked target.
