A New . Hampshire ' hen of the
farm of A. H. 'Simpson; R. 3,
Teeswater,• leas a habit of laying
big eggs. Every once and a while
Mrs. Hen produces a . special
double-yolker.. Her latest effort
measured 81/2" by 63/4", and was
exhibited .to the Publisher by
Jean' Simpsonwho is a visitor
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Johnston.
Plays Repeat Performance
Pat Gibson, the travelling cow-
boy and his wonder .dog, put on
a two-hour open air show in
town on Saturday night, which
attracted a large crowd, who con-
sidered the; performance very en-
tertaining, A silver collection was
taken.- it was his second appear-
ance here this summer.
Landed At Wrong Station
Former Branptonians, Mr. and
Mrs. John Carruthers; of „Mild-
may had' some holidays. so came
,to Brampton. The train on which,
they travelled was 'fifteen coach-
es long -and t'he Carruthers sat
-Motile .lastcoach. When the train.
stopped at the Brampton station,
Mrs. Carruthers '(Dot . to you)
looked out the train window and
saw\ the Heweston factory, so ad-
vised her better half. to wait un-
til the train pulled up to the
station. Shortly the train started,
but having already stopped at
the station once,. kept, right on
going.. Dot and John got off ,at,
Malton, phoned father to come
and get them and finally arrived
in good old Brampton where
they ,enjoyed a week's vacation.

JOHN JAMIESON
Following an illness of about
four days, John Jamieson passed
on at thehome ofhis son, Thos.,
lot 28, concession ` 10, East Wawa -
nosh.
a v a -nosh.. He Was. iin his 81st- year.
Born in East Wawanosh, he farm-
ed there until he retired to Wing -
ham 18 years ago. Three years
ago he moved to Whitechurch,
but for the past 'eleven months
has been living with his son.
Forty-eight years 'ago he was
Married to Isabella' Gaunt, of St.
,H,elens, who passed away on Sep.
tember 29th, 1942. .' •He was -7.4
m m'ber of the Anglican church.
r. Jamieson leaves to mourn
his •gassing, one. son Thomas on
the homestead; two daughters,
Mrs. Roy (Viola) .Irwin, West
Wawanosh and Mrs. Thos. (An-
nie) Mcquffin, East Wawanosh.
One daughter died";lit infancy. He
is also survived by one brother
and two sisters, James of Bel -
gravel,, Mrs. Robert Stonehouse,
Belgrave; Mrs. James Gaunt,
Lucknow. Two brothers and two
sisters predeceased him. Andrew
and Thomas; Mary and Jane.
The funeral was held last Wed-
nesday from the residence of his.
son, Thomas. The Rev. H. C.
Wilson officiated. Thepallbearers
were his two grandsons, Ross and
John Jamieson, and four nep-
hews,, Andrew Gaunt, George
Phillips, Almond Jamieson and
Earl Gaunt.
Small boy (in chemist's shop):
"Please, I want.. some powder
for my sister-".
Chemist (jokingly) : "Some-
thing that gdes off with a bang?"
Small boy: "No, something that
goes on with a puff'.

held on Monday evening at the
home of the bride's parents, Mi41-

The happy,couple will reside
in Toronto. ,
George Hewis, Culross Town-
ship farmer, who was critically
injured in„a car accident on No..
4 Highway Thursday, died Suif-
day morning,'
Mr. Hewis ,wasdriving east on
concession 4 add while it is stated
that he stopped before entering
the highway, he apparently did
not notice an approaching car
driven by 'Mrs. Thomas Roane
and allegedly drove into its path-
way.'
Both cars were badly damaged
as a result of the crash and Mr.
Hewis sustained injuries to his,
spinal cord- from which- death
resulted
He is survived by his wife.
Burial was in Wingham cem-
etery.
