The Fair., this year NJ vill feature

competitions and. Class 35 of the
prize list will be .found to be
fashioned after .the pattern of
the School Fair cOmpetitions.
.There are a total of 70 sections
• under Class 35; listing grain, veg-
etables,.potatoes and roots, flo*,
ers, fruit, poultry and pet stock
- and livestock. The Ptize money
offered is on the sehocil fair basis
of awards and totals *AO: •
in addition there are valuable
prizes offered rural schools which
compete in the parade; yell and
chorus, crafts, projects and public

Wesley Robb Of Lochalsh had
a narrow escape. the end of the
week, When the tractor ,he was
driving rolled down a steep em-
bankment in the field Mr. Robb
was' uninjured, but the tractor-
• suffered some damage.

The 'dogs are from Paramount
Kennels operated by Goldie Mar-
tin. The male dog.was the father
of the litter of ,nine, which were
5 Weeks old. This mare is Hel-
met -1c of Stralhisla and was im-
ported from Pennsylvania.
A trf-colored pup, 61/2 months
i!ld, was also on. exhibition. The
sire of this dog was the 1943 Can-
.adien Cham pion, ElmSheli Buddy

half her championship as a puppy,

*Band from No. 9 Service Flying
Training School at Centralia,
Made a big hit with a large crowd'
of people .,who -lined' the main
• Street here on 'Sattirclay night to
hear and see them.
• These - "Flying Scots" looked
natty in their Air Force tartans
• and put on ,a very pleasing per-
formance of over an hour. Frank
• MacKenzie of town is one of the
band, which came to Lucknow 14
strong.
The -Band' remained overnight
here returning to Centralia by
us on Sunday afternociri. The
embers were billeted in various
illage homes.
Their tartans were particularly
ttractive, in spite of the fact
at the x lacked the, usual corn -
nation of brighten; colors. The
stume is that of the traditional
ighland regiments, translated
to R.C.A.F. colors of azure blue,
vy blue and cardinal red. This

The telegram; dated Aug..ust
5th, was received from the Dir-

Harold enlisted \in the Royal
Canadian Regiment at !London' on
May 28',' 1940. :He spent a month
at London before gOing to Camp
Borden, where he was training
until gOing overseas. He left ter
9Yerseas_. on_lhis 21st birthday
June 18th, 1941. ;
Overseas, Harold was trans-
• ferred to a heavy support squad-
ron and was driving oneof the
big 40 -ton tanks. In a letter to
his parents in May, Herold said
• -he had been selected as a mem-
er of a picked squadron.'it was
In mid-June that Mr. and Mrs.
McTavish- received their last -let:
ter frOrn him, although it is ex-
pected that others may now be
on the way. .
Harold Was born 23 years ago,
on the 4th Concession • of Turn -
berry and came with his parents,
to Lucknow in 1930, as e. lad of
ten years. He grew to young man-
od here where he resided until
listing. - •
Besides his grief stricken par-
ts, two brothers Gordon of Bel-
st and and Cameron of Lucknow,

various centres in regard to orris

ection. Locally we heard it said

In the last Dominion election
• enumerators made a door-to-doorcall in compiling the lists. For the
provincial election last week, the
municipal voters' list. was .used
as the basis for compiling the
list, except in the larger urban
centres.

never been on the municipal list.
