ence held recently at :the Can-
adian School of Missions . in
Toronto. The guest speaker and
consultant throughout__the•_,three

chairman of the Canadian ov
_ernment' food ixiforination � Gcom-
mittee. He• brought to ;the con-
ference, .in • a clear and forceful
manner, the facts of'' the `world'
food 'situation With ,which -he is
• farniliar . through many contacts:
with • United .Nations 'food ,and
agricultural officials. •
The conference had been Plan-
ned at a; p''revious get together, of
churcl},,•labor,'. agricultural, `wo-
'Hen's and youth ' groups. On the,
basis of .information provided, the
conference was, .convinced that
the' food 'shortage in India, China
and Europe 'is•so acute that every
Canadian should' -join in ;the
"Share with : the Hungry Cam-
paign" in, every way possible for
the sake of humanity. Increased
contributions ` of Canadian food
are essential if the United Nations
are. to win what the p,eopie'
Britain are calling the "Battle of
bread".
'Action recommended to :the
Canadian: ;O-overnment`-;,by the
Conference was'. as follows.
1. We wish:- to commend the;
efforts of the'. FoodInformation
Conimittee to :promote 'reduction`'
and•' conservation of food od through
•publicity, by- press and radio,': but.
we. urge the government to un-,
dertake'further effort in the pro-
