off' balance,'. and with, the vehicle
toppling • on. its side. the .victim's`
neck . was' daught.: between. the. '
door and frame.:; He was. accord-
ingly found in this position, death
being -attributed to strangulation:
..Constable Woods'° made exten-
sive inquiry into. W,essel's state-
ment that he had tried'. to get the
,lights fi ted.`On'visiting the'vari-
ous.garages in Lucknow he found
that the mechanic. had told• Wes-
, sel that there must be' a short as
the ' fuse kept blowing 'and. he
Would further' check the matter
after 'supper,. The: accused it : is
said left that garage, .. and'. al-
though stating ,he planned to take
the car to another, never did so.
.Crown Attorney Freeborn 'stat
h ed that it. , was most 'unfortunate
that a death had resulted, declar-
ing that• Wessel was very lucky
a' charge. of manslaughter had not
been laid:
