Peter.ltamsay MacNay, • a life-
long resident of Ashfield Town-
ship: and a gentleman held in the
highest -esteem in thea coinmun-
ity, .passed away suddenly- late
Wednesday aftrenoon, `September
27th.:
Mr. MacNay' was •83 years of
age on August lith, and was ,born.
on the farm at Paramount where
his death occurred: He was .the
last memiber of a family of .four
children "born to Wrn., MacNay
and Jane , Ramsay. Mr; MacNay
was predeeeaset by two steers,

Carnochan 'of .1J ucknow: and . a
brother, John,' of. ,Seaforth.

Since -shortly after his wife's
death, Mr, . MacNay., -has 'been.
totally blind, but he 'bore his: af-
flietion. 'Uncom'plainingly. • a d'
•with 'great:'courage.' Many were.
.me' littleduties he was able to
perform without his•sight. He'was
well'read.and an ;interesting .cont
versationalist' and enjoyed, the
company of :friends. To the •last
he••retained ;a keen intellect;' and
an interest in world—affairs : as
well' as :local ' happenings, • While
he : could, Mr. • MaeNay took an
active part: in church- and Sunday
School ••wo
work.: He, was a, mern'ner
of • the Presbyterian church.

Relatives; and friends, were
shocked and saddened last, 'week
to learn of the sudden passing of
Gregor A. Stuart at his home in
Auburn; Alabama: He was 59
years of age. Death was due to a
iieart. attack. '
Gregor was. a. •son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. .Alexander Stuart
and was born on the hamestead• at
St.• Helens now'owned by his: hro-
thev, George. As a young man he,;
commenced a 'business • career ,in
the Molsons,Bank, Lucknow„ then'
under ,the managership of George

charge of, the Lucknow Elevator,

busy '.in • handling the vast quant-
