MRS: A. E. ARCHER
The 'death of Mrs A E Are.her,
formerly Jessie Valens . of Kin-
loss Township, occurred at`a
mont, Alberta, on 'September ,dtlt
in her .-75th year:; Her 'husband,
Dr.. A. E. Archer, founder of the.
Lamont •Memorial Hospital, pre-
deceased -` her. .
Mrs. ,Archer wait a graduate .of
Hamilton City Hospital and went
west to .Alberta' with her Y us -
:band in • 1904. A year later he
established a practise ' at Lamont,
and was assisted in his work by
his wife, under pioneer condi-
tions that then existed.
In 1911E Dr: Archer was given,
charge of an 11 -bed hospital built
by the citizens -off: Lamont and
had directional responsibility for
its •aperation 'until his. : death t in
1950. Mrs: Archer , served as'
anesthestist' at the hospital for 'a
number ,of years.. She was'active
in, the W.M.S. and W.A. df the
United Church and was • an; elder
of the church: She was also. act.
