COUNCIL SHOWS
SMALL SURPLUS•
,
The Village Councit held, its
concluding 'meeting for the Year
last week, when a review of es-
timate4 expenditures and actual
costs during the year, revealed
• slight sukplus on the year's op-
erattori:::
Council budgeted :one mill; or
$612, for' ' contingency expendi
4ures, and the •financial report
shows a surplus of •$628.92, or
$14,92 'aver and above the special
one mill levy; • ,
• The budget was reviewed by
Departnients with expenditure• $
and estimates varying but little;
except , in road and welfare costa.
Road expenditures werie,.... consid-•
,erably less than • the ekintate,
which helped to countetbalance
social Welfare costs which soared
beyond e3Epecitations.
Sell Bond Issue • •
'Council accepted Wood,Gundy's
bid of $92.09. .for the debenture
Wile of $26,000 for the new well.
This. bears a yield of about 4.83
• percent.. The issue was only par-
tially subscribed. locally,. and as
a. result the entire issue had to
be put on the market. It was
pointed out that municipal bond
issues are not In .demand, and
consequently are being taken up
only at"ai -Considerable Aliscount,
which is typical of the 'money
market at .preserst,;With interest
rate's increasing. •• •
