Aboard The Empress'. of Britain ,
Late this: afternoon the north-
• ern shore of the ' Emerald Isle
was sighted and ' tonight lights
along the Irish coast are blink-,
ing their welcome after six days
at sea. It has 'been. six days of
luxurious living- aboard . this
ultra -modern. ship. The weather
has been near -perfect andwith
the •exception of 'one day Friday
--Lt' haS :been an exceptionally
smooth crossing, and a fast one
as we have averaged about five
hundred miles' a day . since reach,
nig_ the :open ---sea.
There shave been very, very
few of the more than 1,000 pass-
engers. that cannot boast that
they', did net miss a meal -and
what meals!
From Montreal down the beau-
Will St. Lawrence and 'through
the •Gulf to the open sea. is a
two-day, - one thousand rnile
journey. Sheltered by the est-
nary of the St. Lawrence arid.

lubbers—as many of us ,were`
had . a chance, to . find our sea -
