,Ashfield' Township:Council:,re-
ceived 'petitions on Monday night'
' from five, school sections in the
township requesting withdrawal
-froth "the Ashfield Publ•ie. School.
'Area.
The petitions were signed,'by
some 95 percent, or abetter.,.. of
the ratepayers of the respective
sections, and Council voted un-
animously to accept the petitions
and draw up the necessary ,by-
• law providing for secession of
:these •Sections from the:•.Area.
The by=law: •'will be dealt"' with,
at the• Council's. ,June meeting.
This action. stemmed from the
decision ' of the Ashfield School
Area Board to close the . schools.
at Zion, Crewe and the .4th Con-
cession at the end of June, and
next fall to transport , the pupils
=adjacent schools.
