past year' the board had decided
to cut • the 'township • from 15 to`j
13 classrooms. This resulted when
Kintail and' ' Sheppardton schools ('

this step . was partially respons-
ible for • a ,decrease of,. 1% mills
in the school rate., He said that
Ashfield had to fall in.:line with
a • provincial :trend:. for salary, in
creases. 4n order to •obtain ;the best
teachers, . presently on permit,,
were -outlined over the year, ,and
the speaker mentioned that three

would be 'lost to- them next. year,

said that "school -closing" seems

know why Ashfield paid inure per
mile for transportation, and why
their teachers were more highly
paid. Mr,: Crozier said that 'in;
order to provide good teachers,,
and good transportations,, the
school board had rto pay -salaries
that were .favorable qn a provin-
cial level.
