T'he following Is a summary of: ,Mrs. 'Tofrance's• travelogue. • We left North Bay Saturday morning,. March . 26th, ' arriving in Halifax Monday 'evening where we. boarded our boat, the. Empress of Scotland: Upon 'sailing out of Halifax on the ;29th• 'we were greatly pleased , to receive so many niceletters andtelegrams wishing us • Bon Voyage. We enjoyed visits vvitl so ‘inany' 'friendly people on board, arid there wasentertainment, of every kind..The meals were • excellent varied. April 3:rd 'was- •xny birthday and I was,,pleased to. receive • a cablegram ' from' out son Peter an • his wife; A birth= day .cake. Was ,:made for :me' with ;name on .it and I • hadit shared among' the many guests, .•We. arrived: ,in Liverpool next day' and' :thence 'by train to. Lon don. and !by taxi to our hotel 'near Russel . Squarer, ,Next morn- •, ing on• a tour we :saw the ;chang.-`• ing of ,the:, Guards' at Buckingham' Palace, St Pauls Cathedral_Can- ada House, 10 Dawning: St., ;etc. We' left London . April: 6th for Marwick where we took the. ;1360 to the Hook of Holland, passing "Trough Rotterdam t;o Amater- darn,. lovely, ; flat. country, very neat and tidy. :Had. • a tour of the' city and never saw',so :many; bicycles: before. •Leaving for' Bele`. gumwe passed through ,acres 'and acres of tulkps:,',in ,bloom: In Brussels •so many of the: stores. disi;layed beautiful lace. We left' Brussels for. Cologne,.•where we were taken on a, walking tour .of :thecity and saw beautiful paint sings, and; `works of ai+t, also of-•; fects . Easter morning we took" 'a' steamer .down. :the •-11Thine -and savnoted:-critics -and spas with'.theirmineral... springs: Fro Munich we Went' to, Austria through' h' the sno"vsr-caiaped :ren ,• ner Pass and rode . to our hotel in. -•V,enice in .a gQxidola. Froi�ra there, we went 'Id Rome :and saw ,atian.:Cit_y__ and 'Ole -Pope -bless- ing ing .1000 'cheering people, From pioine. we • went to .'Switzerland, a beautiful `cowu.ritry With'. friendly people, and next to Paris where • we had a morning tour and a night. toiir visiting four night clubs. From Paris we returned'. to. London and visited the Houses.. of Parliament, •Westminster Ab- bey,. etc.., b-bey,..etc., and had a tour. of the Shakespeare Country, passing through Oxford with its 28 ..col1.i •eges. We -took a tour of the Tross ackS and • Loch'''Loxnond and to Edinborough: Where.On April 2,7th. With'. the honorary. secretary .of., the C:lan,...Chattan (Macintosh). we., went cin a walking • tour Ofthe city.. We. had;Chre�f"`Maclbaosh, and. the secretary, ' for :dinner at' our hotel and in the evening at- tended. a meeting pf the Clan in the hotel. 'drawing room, On Our way to Inverness :we had a four-hour stop. Off •at Kin- guissie- and saw 'the. graves of Rev. Angus and Mrs. MacKay who used to live in I.ducknow. Rev..Uaelcay married my father and mOther and baptized Barry ' who 'attended school -with some f his family. We called Rev wcita rz a son Or" e r ac Kays, who. is Chaplain of the 'Hospitals 'in 'Inverness and he and his 'wife came over to our hotel; and hada great chat about Luck- now. ucknow. They were missionaries in Peru for 28 .years. They took .us in their car to the different hos- pitals and places of interest and we had them for lunch at aur hotel. That afternoon Chief Mac- intosh and Lady MacIntosh took • is in their ear -to Moy Hall,. (Mac- intosh Castle), where we had at, :ternoon tea and uiewed the castle and gardens, -The Original'. Mac- intosh:. estate, was a ` .hun dred thousandacres with r-iany •castles, and •lodges, but much • of it has ,been sold. From Inverness'. • e took a ,train•to` the Kyle of 'Loch- alsh to get' th.$. boat for Portree, I.'sle of. Skye; wand Rev. and Mrs. MacKay came down to. the train to chat and see us off. ' Arriving in Skye, we • had a grand view of the. Coolin''Hi11`s. On •Sunday 'evening attended a servicein the : Free .
