If you will kindly permit me to occupy a little space, ypur et:damns, I shall promise to be brief.. I would -like to bring before your readers, a suggestion which a prominent citizen of our 'yillege• brought to my. atten- tion recently, The subject under discussion was the 'Proposition- of the Fire Co., to beautify the park on Havelock St. by laying it out in flowers polts. planting shrubs, erecting baud' stand Atc. to make a memorial .park in honor of brave soldiers .who offer- ed and 'served in the World War. Everyone agrees that some.memorial should' be maintains..d- to keep -their loyalty to home and country in the minds of • future generations. The plan proposed will meet with the ap- proval of many. If one might crit- icize the proposal, it might be put in this way: The cost of un -keep, care of such grOunds-and the grounds are now Used by the pupils at the school as. a ball ground. As a band stand itis not well located. The proposition I wish to mention is a me,morial clock placed on OUT Town Hall and Library building. it would be of service. in giving us the correct time. It would. be seen by all travellers and visitors to our village. Enquiry might be made' as to ono and the matter placed before, a nriblic noeeting in the near future. This is not written to criticize. the action of the firemen. Who deserve inneb credit for their, charitable work, but .rnerely to bring out other opinions on the sutiect.
