N OPEN LETTER
rr'
LveRNow, FEB. xsT, 1918.
PinrcuAsuR;--
On Feb. xst we began a new business year, and are now receiving .
new goods for spring and 'summer trade. Our purchases have been made
with the greatest care to get the finest assortment and the best valuei‘pos-
sible. )/lost lines were bought rally months ago when wholesale prices
were lower thanithey are at present and thus we ,cau sell at closer prices
than if tame goods were purchased by us to -day. ,
Owing to tlie continuance of the war the tendency is still l'upwards in
prices of wool, cotton and linen goods; so that early purchasing for spring
is advisable as we will have to pay bigher prices for any repeat orders.

Regarding ladies' -wear for spring we are arranging for a display by
the Princess Mfg. Co:, of Toronto,' at a date to be announced liter, of their
range of Ladies' Suits, Dresses, Coats and Waists, showing the latest' and
up-to-date styles. Those who have seen their former displays here know
the ,dvantage of selection from such a large range, the certainty of a perfect
fit and the satisfaction of getting a distinctive and exclusive style.
To those who owe us an account we wonld say we vvould appreciate an
early settlement as we aim to have all accounts squared ,up at least °Hee a
year. It takes time, labor and expense to have to write two, three, four or
moreletters requesting payment, and we hope to have the privilege of writ-
ing your receipt at an early date. To all who have dealt with us during
the past year we desire to express olir .appreciation otyour patronage,- and
respectfully's4cit a continuance of the same during the coming year. -As- .
suririg you of fair and courteous ,treatment, we reipain, ' •
