long to get a purchaser for the Heming-
way farm of which he reoently came
into possession. He made. a sale of it
on Tuesday to his neighbor, Mr. W. Mc.
Donald. The price is $1,300,
A clipping from the Battleford Press,
which came to hand the other day, con-
tains a report of the marriage of Mies
Martha Ireland, formerly of Culross, to
Mr, Rueben Martin of Maokliu,
The marriage was celebrated in the
Presbyterian church, Rev. A. Little
officiating. The bride, who was given
away by her brother, Mr. R. D. Ireland,
wore a dress of cream satin and oarried
a bouquet of chrysanthemums and ferns.
The groom's gift to the bride wne a
sunburst of diamonds and pearls.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin will reside at
Maoklin.

Sarnia last week supporting the call of
Rev. T. A. Bell, B. A , who has been
called to Molesworth.
The adjourned annual meeting of the
Blnevale lame and Butter Co. will be
held in the Foreetere' hall here on Fri-
day afternoon of this week, when the
question of selling the Dream to the Port
Huron Creamery Co. will be discussed.

Wedding invitations are out for the
marriage of Mise Sara F., daughter of
Wm. and Mrs Battrey, 12th con., to
Russell Riddell, of Elma township.
The date of the important event is Wed-
nesday, 22nd inst.
Miss Jennie Rands, whose parental
home is if miles S uth of Bruseels. has
been re-engaged as teacher of the Sum-
merbill school at an advance in salary.
She is a good teacher.
The Neil McNair farm, Lot 22, Con.
15, has been purchased by Jno. Mc-
Taggart. of the same line, wbo now
owns 250 acres. He paid $4 700 for
the McNair property whioh suits him
well, owing to its proximity to his other
farm. Mr. Mao. is a thrifty going man
and a good farmer. We wish him and
hie success.
R. M. Donglae, of Strasebnrg, Sask.,
is visiting here. He is a former resi-
dent of the 16th con , who went West
7 years ago Mr. Douglas is doing well
and looks like it and Mrs. Douglas and.
the 5 daughters are also well. He still
has 150 acres in Grey that he wishes to
sell before he returns home. Strase•
burg is 50 miles Nortb of Regina and is
a good locelitv'. It is a divisional point
on the 0 P R. and will have 6 miles of
sittings. Mr. Douglas had 3,200 bushels
of wheat this year whioh he sold at
close on 86 cents per bushel.
W ROXETER.
On Sunday morning Deo. 5th, death
claimed another of our citizens, in the
person of Mrs. J. S. MoTavish, after
suffering from a painful and lingering
illness. She was a most estimable
woman and a consistent member of the
Presbyterian Church. • She leaves a
husband, three sons and a daughter to
mourn the lose of a devoted wife and
loving mother. The funeral took plane
on Tuesday afternoon of last week. The
services were conducted by Rev. L
Perrin.
An interesting event occurred at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shepley,
Glenwood, Wednesday, Deo. let, when
their daughter. Mise Agnes M., was
united in marriage to Rev. O. W. Mc-
Kenzie, B.A., of Wroxeter. At the hour
of three o'olook the bride entered the
parlor, leaning on the arm of her father,
very prettily attired in white, and carry-
ing a shower boquet of white roses.
Rev. A. H. Brown, B. A., 13. D., of
Merlin, was the offioiating minister, who
tied the nuptial knot which made the
happy couple one.

of Hugh and Mrs. McQuarrie.
Mrs. A. 13. Balaton received the sad
news of the sudden death of her brother,
Joe Totten, at Saskatoon, Sask. He
was a young business man of that
city.
The newly elected office bearers for
the coming term in connection with
Blyth Odd Followehip are:—E. Mo
Taggart, Noble Grand; Jas. (hitt, sr ,
Vice Grand; A. W. Robinson, Record-
ing Secretary; Jno Weymouth, Finan-
cial Secretary; D. Floody, Treasurer.
R. E. Euetoott, of Blyth, has been
named by the Brantford Collegiate
board as assistant science and mathe-
matical master at the Brantford Col-
legiate. His duties will oomtnenne an
January 3 at a salary of $1,000 per
annum.
On Wednesday, Deo. let, Mr. East-
oott, father of Principal Eastcott, of
Blyth, paid Nature's debt at the ad-
vanced age of 86 years. He took ill on
Nov. 27th. Deceased was born in
Devonshire, England, on Deo 24th, 1824
and cantle to Canada in 1850, looating at
Port Hope. Moved to Mariposa where
he lived 6 years, then resided at Brook
for 6 years and in 1880 took up his reel
dence in the township of Mara, Co of
Ontario, where he made his hone up to
his demise.

York, has been visiting her sister.

W. Badgley and R. Gray have return-
ed home after spending the Fall in the
West. They are well pleased with their
trip and will likely return next season.
Milton Currie, a former resident of
the 5th line, who has been living in
Manitoba, is here on a visit and will
likely spend the Winter in Ontario.
Mrs. Alex. Nichol arrived home from
Clinton Hospital on Monday feeling a
lot better. She was in the hospital
eight weeks. We trust she will soon be
as vigorous as ever.
Stanford Rainer was found guilty at
Yorkton, Sask., of the murder of A. D,
Fraser and sentenoed to be hanged on
Feb, 17,

Davis, 6th line, had the misfortune to
inflict en ugly gash on his left foot at
the instep with en axe, doing damage
to tale cords. His many friends hope he
will soon be o. It.
After an absence of two years in the
West, 0. E. Bone, son of Henry Bone,
3rd line, is home on a visit. He has tv
farm at Scott, Saelr., and will go back
next Spring. Mr. Bone gives a good
account of the country and the favorable
proepeots.
Mrs Wm. Robb, 6th line,has returned
from Tottenham, where she was called
on account of her father's illness and
subsequent death, Mr. Robb and F.
Me0utoheon attended the funeral. De-
ceased was a flue man and enjoyed the
respect of a wide oirole of friends.
