THURSDAY.SEP rE\iBER 2, 1909, �r V NOTES AND COMMENTS -- Present indicatima are that the Oa- ta,rio Legislature will be called to meet about the middle of January, and that six weeks will see all the busiuess tram - acted. The fiscal year will close this year on Oct. 21. This will give the de- partment time to have the public ac- counts and estimates reedy in time to be laid on the table of the House the first week. Live Stock Markots. Toronto, Ang. 30 - Union Stook Yards. -There were 80 cars of stook in the market to -dap. consisting of 1,701 head of cattle, 242 sheep and lambs, and 28 calves. As usual for Monday trade, a few loads of butoher cattle were offer- ing, but the balk of the arrivals were held over for the export trade of to- morrow's market. All business trans- acted to -day was in butoher cattle, and trade was slow, Prices, however, were steady to firm for anything of fair quali ty but easy on the commoner staff. Several loads of light export cattle were bought up for the butcher trade, one load selling at 5 60, showing that ohoioe butcher cattle are still scarce and are wanted at prices even a little better than a week ago. Wilkinson, 4th con., who has been bothered for the past six weeks wish blood poisoning, does not improve as his many friends would like.
