Re was thrown in front of the guards and had one lag terribly lacerated by the knife besides being otherwise injured. He was a native of Ayrshire, Sootland, where he was brought up to Parra work. In 1855 he was married to Jean Bowie who accompanied him to this country in the same year, The following year he moved into the township of Oarriok and took up a farm on the Elora Road, 1X ,riles from Balaklava. On this farm he lived, enjoying the respect and esteem of all who knew him, until he with bis helpmeet retired to spend their last years beside heir daughter, Mrs. Jas.
