Editor's Corner
If you have walked or driven by Clan Gregor
Square within the past year you may have
noticed a rag flying from the flag pole.
The material in question used to be our
flag, but by no stretch of the imagination
does it resemble a flag now, nor has it for
-•the past several months. Out of respect for
our national emblem either a new flag should
replace the torn fragment that is there now,
or what is there should be taken down.
It is hard to understand how such an im-
portant symbol in our village could be so
ignored for so long by those responsible.
It is just a little thing you might say,
however when you think about it, what else
is there but little things?
Want to help make our village newspaper
more readable and interesting and present
a better Bayfield image to our visitors at
the same time? Well, rather than plaster
our trees, poles and posts with various
notices and advertisements why not put them
in the Bayfield Post. It doesn't cost
anything to put a news item or notice of a
meeting in the paper where all can see it.
It doesn't cost anything to publish a short
report of a club's activity where all can
read it. It doesn't look that great going
down Main Street and seeing a sign, poster,
or notice on every other utility pole.
Whether there is a by-law or not against
such a practice is beside the point. Vil-
lage pride should discourage turning our
picturesque landscape into a common ad-
vertising forum.
In place of a newspaper one could use a
town bulletin board. But whatever method
one uses allowing the street to be lined
with paper or cardboard hardly says it
with class.
PRESBYTERY HOLDS MEETING HERE
The Presbytery of Stratford -Huron of the Pres-
byterian Church of Canada held its regular
Spring meeting here in Bayfield this past
Wednesday. The Spring meeting is held in
Bayfield to show support for the local church.
Reports of the General Assembly of the Church
held in Toronto last week were read and dis-
cussed.
Rev. Bert Vancook, Moderator, told the Post that
the Church is committed to the concept of the
ordination of women. Those who are ordained and
who disagree may express their disagreement but
they are nonetheless expected to take part in the
ordination ceremony of women.
A special guest at the meeting was Rev. Clement
Ndovie from Malawi who is studying in Canada
and working in St. Mary's, Ontario.
