FROM THE Pastor's Desk
LACK OF COURAGE?
What is the fault most common to man? The
answer to that question would have to be that
the fault or weakness most common to the vast
majority of mankind is a lack of courage.
Most people know what is right but they do
not have the courage or "guts" to carry it out.
They sell themselves out because they cannot
stand ridicule, they cannot stand condemnation,
they cannot stand the ill will of others or
what others will think of them. People know
what they should do, but they will sell their
bodies fore leaf of bread, they will sacri-
fice their soul and integrity to get "ahead".
They do not live by principle, and they con-
stantly collapse under the weight of life's
circumstances. They live, out of an animal
instinct for self-preservation. They seek
security in what man offers. They seek
security in two -car garages, coloured T.V.'s
and automatic dishwashers. In a word,
they seek material things.
They do not seek security in what God has
given them, namely, their talents and.
rights as a human being. No doubt, this is
what Christ was referring to when He said,
"He who would save his life will lose it,
and he who loses his life for my sake will
save it." That is to say, he who: would
save his life with what man has to offer
will lose it. He who does not trust in
material things but in God, will save it.
