Page 2 CANON PAULL - CONT'd.
In Bayfield he was able to give more time to
his gardening and he worked at this year-
round. Even now there are bulbs sitting in
pots, ready to give to his friends. He was
not particularly fond of boating or swimming,
his interests lying more in activities such
as the Historical Society.
He never lost his fondness for children,
hugging them all to him, from babies to
teenagers. Not a man to push himself on you,
he became very involved when asked. In asking
people to describe Canon Paull (as I had only
met him once) I heard over and over; "lovable
"sincere", "a real Christian - a person's
religion, or lack of religion, did not alter
a friendship with Canon Paull."
Canon Paull died on December 27, 1981, one
day after his 89th birthday. But he lives on
in the hearts of those who hold him dear,
meaning so many things to so many people.

RE SUNDAY STAR
Here's the list for the rest of the winter.
Remember to get the paper as early as possi-
ble - The C. & E. Variety, 15 Victoria St.,
Clinton, opens at 8 A.M. - and to get a sub-
stitute if for some reason you can't go
yourself.
If you plan to be away for a few weeks,
please prepay Donelda or arrange for a
friend to pick up and save your paper for
you.
Everyone has been wonderfully conscientious
as far as 1 know, and I'm enjoying my Sunday
morning paper so much.

An Open Letter to the Editor:
The severity of the weather in Northern
climes is always a concern to animal "lovers",
particularly as there are so many people who
through sheer ignorance or lack of compassion
are responsible for the death of millions of
our furry friends each year.
When animals are left outside, tied or in
cages with no means of reaching even a snow
bank to burrow into for protection, tied in
the back of pick-up trucks or left in un-
heated vehicles, they are at the mercy of the
elements and so terribly helpless.
Fur does NOT generate heat - it does insulate,
yet cold will eventually penetrate even the
thickest insulation when internal hest is
reduced (i.e. as in a home) hence the need for
a more adequate diet, or fuel in the cold
weather.
Dogs can die from exposure, they can suffer
from arthritis and many of the diseases that
humans endure. We do not have to contribute
to their suffering by thoughtlessness or
sadistic unconcern.
No matter what the season, if cruelty and
neglect, or both, are seen or even suspected
and you feel that you can permanently correct
the situation by your own intervention, then
as an intelligent human beim; you must Imme-
diately inform either the police or your. local
Anti -Cruelty or Humane Society.
