Letters
The Editor:
Page 5
In last week's paper you carried a letter
from Beryl D. Hogg. In said letter she
questioned the origin of 2 paragraphs in
"NOTE". It is unfortunate that she found
either my previous letter to you or your
"NOTES" so confusing. Her confusion is
certainly reflected in her letter to you.
She questions if vilifying our fellow-
man is your object? is it possible that
she may be confusing your paper with
some other publication?
As it happens 1 have saved every issue of
The Bayfield lost and although I have
searched each copy most carefully I can
find nothing at all that even hints of the
"vilifying" that she refers to.
webster's Dictionary defines "vilifying" -
to speak ill of. To try to degrade by
slander (verbal). To defame or traduce.
in the interest of accuracy I would per-
sonally prefer to make use of a dictionary,
especially if I were, by implication,
accusing an Editor of being so foolhardy
and even more important, I would consider
how my published letter would make me look.
On the other hand, it was very nice of
Alex and Beryl Hogg to share with us the
excellent advice contained in the article
they submitted. it should be acted upon
by everyone, out of consideration to their
survivors.
I find letters from Patricia Cooper inter-
esting and concise. However in last week's
paper she inquired if Rev. R. Patrick could
be "persuaded to contribute on a regular
basis". If she meant each week, I do not
agree (although I do agree with her approval
of his article). Perhaps she meant on a
regular rotating basis as the others have
to date.
Seasons Greetings to you and your staff!
