A number of friends
and relatives had after-
noon tea with Mrs.

Street on Wed. after-
noon, Oct. 14, in
honour of her 86th
birthday. The young
lady received many
beautiful cards and

The four generations
of the Makins' held
Thanksgiving at the
home of Ruth & Arnold
Makins. Present were
Lloyd & Esther, Brenda
& Dennis, Brooke & Jana
Miskie of Goderich,
Bonnie & Dave Chapman
of Toronto, Brian &
Donna. Cass of Toronto,
& Valerie Merner of
Bayfield. It was also
the occasion of Lloyd
& Esther's fiftysixth
wedding anniversary
and the Miskie's de-
parture. They have
sold their home in
Goderich and are moving
to Marathon on northern
Lake Superior where
Dennis will be head Lab
Technician in the hospi-
tal there. They are
leaving shortly.

AFTER THE
RAINBOW TROUT
DERBY
The fish in the Bayfield River can swim a
little easier this week after eluding most of
the anglers in the Bayfield Lions Club 3rd
Annual Rainbow Derby during the past weekend.
Joe Brandon and Eric Earl, co-chairmen of the
successful event estimated the profit in
excess of $1,000.00 will go towards: community
betterment.
Dan Baljet of London was the lucky winner of
the coveted Molson's Cup presented by Molson's
Breweries representative, Doug Vance of London,
and the first prize of ;800.00 for his first
place win with a 25 inch Rainbow Trout weigh-
ing 5.96 pounds. He will also have his name
engraved on the Trophy and a free mounting of
his fish courtesy of the Ausable Taxidermy of
Exeter. Second prize of $200.00 went to Bob
Mulligan Jr. of London, whose 24 inch Rainbow
weighed 5.69 lbs. Third place winner of
$100.00 was Ken Cook of London with a Rainbow
weighing 5.51 lbs. and measuring 24 inches.
In the non -Rainbow class a Salmon caught by

Luke Foisey weighing 17.74 lbs, and measuring
36 inches in length won him a fishing reel
donated by the Walnut Inn. Second place
winner Jim-Regele, with a 33 inch Salmon
weighing 13.87 lbs., won a jacket and cap
donated by Turnbull Marine. ;doth men were
from London.
Four lady fisherwomen were awarded donated
gifts. Mrs. Eric Earl, an arrangement of
straw flowers donated by Country Flowers of
Bayfield. tris. Arnold Makins, an ash tray
from John Baker Distilleries. firs. Jack
Sturgeon, a set of glasses from John Baker
Distilleries and Mrs. Ersman, a set of
glasses from Dockside Yachts.
Consolation prizes were awarded as follows:

of the Three Day Free camuout, courtesy of
Rainbow Valley Campground.
A big Thank You is extended from the Lions
Club to all those who donated, assisted and
took part in the successful events; and
expeciaily to Judge Kay Tic,:.,eod who maintained
an around-the-clock vigil at McLeod's }flshe.ries
for the weighing in; to Randy YcClinchev for
his untiring efforts and to 'lamer Payne whose
Hot -Spiced Apple Cider warmed the stomachs of
entrants and those attending the presentations.
Along with the tasty smoked fish donated by
McLeod Fisheries, it was s. delightful wind -urs
