Letters to the Editor
SUNDAY STAR
Well, all you lovers of yellow journalism,
you're dying to hear what I found out,
right?
Thanks to Fran & Bob Burton I can let you
know in the paper. By the way, I think
it's sensational that they're keeping the
paper going. Almost every community bene-
fits from a paper, and I hope all you
merchants support their effort. O.K., back
to the Sunday problem.
i had a lovely chat with a guy name of
Ariss in the Star's Toronto Circulation
office, but they will not bring the paper
to Bayfield. He convinced me that at 'x'
cents per mile, employees' time, etc., etc.,
it's just not economically feasible for
them. They do go through Clinton on their
way to Goderich and God knows where else,
so all, my dears, is not lost.
We have fifteen people who want the Sunday
Star - there's at least one news junkie
who goes to Goderich for the damn thing
(a man after my own heart) - and I'm sure
that with a bit of cooperation and mini-
mal organization we can have our paper
before breakfast.
A delightful man named Charlie Burgess,
of the C & E Variety, opens his store in
Clinton at 8 A.M. He will be pleased to
order for us as many papers as we want.
Donalda at the Nip 'N' Tuck has kindly
offered to let us use the store as a drop-
off point, so we're in business:
With so many of us (even if we figure
2 or 3 who can't drive or are otherwise
disabled) each one has to go to Clinton
only once every three or four months.
Surely that's not too onerous. I pro-
pose to go this Sunday, October 11.
I'll mark each copy with a name, and they
should be ready for you at the Nip 'N' Tuck
by 8:30 or so.
I do NOT propose to organize the rotation
of people going. I hope that a few of
you will volunteer for this task. If
none calls me, that's the end of a good
idea. I'm not going to chase over there
every week; my Sunday A.M. routine is
too delicious.
I haven't figured out how payment is going
to be arranged. Any ideas?
P.S. Several people would love the
Saturday Star, and Sunny Stevens would
like the Daily, but I'm too exhausted
to deal with all that.
