A Bylaw for the issue or debentures
of the Town of Wingbans to the
amount of $0000 00, for the purpose
of improving the present water-
works system of the said Town and
for procuring a supply of pure water
for domestic purposes.
—The painters are this week treating
the National Hotel to a new dress of
white paint, Thia•will make a great
improvement to the house.
—The cold spell last week continued
until Saturday and it was near the
freezing point for two nights. Snow
fell in Montreal on Friday.
—The meeting of the Grand Oamp of
the Sone of Scotland is being held in
Toronto Ithis week. Mr. D. E. Mc-
Donald is the delegate, from Camp
Caledonia.
—In an item in our Whiteohuroh
news referring to Thos. Davidson & Son
disposing of their bull we said the ani-
mal weighed 1,450 pounds. This should
have been 2,200 pounds.
—The excursion last Thursday to the
Model Farm at GneIph was pretty well
patronized. There were 111 tickets
sold at Wingham station, being double
the number sold last year.
—Mr. John Short, who has been em-
ployed in Mr. J. W. Hewer's barber
shop for some time, left this week for
Fenwick, in Welland oonnty, , here he
Whereas the Municipal of the Town
of Wingham deem it expedient and necessary
that the present Waterworks system should
be improved and that the ratepayers and resi-
dents of the Town should be supplied with
pure water for domestic purposes.
And whereas the said Municipal Council
have, through their Engineer, Wm. Mahlon
Davis, procured estimates of the cost of
installing a system of pure water for the pur-
pose aforesaid, which estimates are appended
hereto, marked Schedule "A", and which
amount, in the whole, to $6000 00.
And whereas it will be necessary to issue
deoentures of the said Town of Wingham for
the said sum of $0000.00, as hereinafter pro-
vided, which sum is the debt intended to be
created by this by-law, the proceeds of said
debentures to be applied to the said purpose
and no other.
And whereas the total amount required by
"The Municipal Act" to be raised annually by
special rate for paying the said debt and in-
terest, as hereinafter provided, is $453 02.
And whereas the amount of the whole rate-
able property of the said Town of Wingham
according to the last revised assessment roll
ie $773,66:..00.
And whereas the amount of the existing de-
benture debt of the said Municipality,ex-
clusive of Ioeal improvements secured by
special rates and assessments, is the sum of
$142,014.16, whereof there is nothing in arrears
of principal or interest.
Therefore the Municipal Council of the
Corporation of the Town of Wingham enacts
as follows:
1. The sum of 06000.00 shall be expended by
the Town of Wingham in improving the
present waterworks system of the said Town
and procuring pure water for domestic pur-
poses.
2. For the purposes aforesaid the Mayor of
the said Town of Wingham shall cause de-
bentures of the said Town to be issued to the
amount of 20000.10, which said debentures
shall not be Iess than $100 00 each. Such de-
bentures shall be sealed with the seal of the
Corporation of the Town of Wingham and
shall be signed by the Mayor or other acting
head of the Corporation and also by the
Treasurer thereof
3. The said debentures shall bear date on
the fifteenth day of . epptember A.D. 1909, and
shall be issued on the day of the date thereof,
and shall be made payable in twenty years
from the said date, at the office of the Treas-
urer, for the time being, of the said 1 own of
Wingham, and shall have attached to them
coupons for the payment of interest.
4. The said debentures shall bear interest at
the rate of four and one-half per cent. per
annum, from the date thereof, and said inter-
