William P. Lindsay, ex -Manager of
the Bank of British North Amerioa at
Levis, has been arrested in connection
with the recent forgeries.
Charles Booking, of Berlin, Ont., com-
mitted suicide by swallowing carbolic
acid, in epite of the efforts of his daugh-
ter to prevent him.
A band of gipsies camped near Belle-
ville complained to the police that one
of the young girls had absconded after
stealing five hundred dollars from her
parents.

league game here on Friday afternoon

—During the past week the wheat has
made very rapid growth in the West,
and some of the grain is now up nearly
a foot and a half. The weather during
the past few days has been very dry,
and rain is badly needed in some local-
ities. '
