In sickness, if a certain hidden nerve
goes wrong, then the organ that this
nerve controls will also surely fail. It
may be the Stomach nerve, or it may
have given strength and support to the
Heart or Kidneys. It was Dr. Shoop
that first pointed to this vital troth. Dr.
Shoop's Restorative was not made to
dose the Stomach nor to temporarily
stimulate the Heart or Kidneys. That
old-fashioned method is all wrong. Dr.
Shoop's Restorative goes directly to
these failing inside nerves. The re-
markable success of this presoription
demonstrates the wisdom of treating
the actual cause of these failing organs.
And it is indeed easy to prove. A simple

Deadly Consumption
Start from Catarrh
Thousands Think Catarrh is Cold,
Neglect it and Die.
Lad year forty per cent of all deaths
ware from consumption. Theca people
nil had catarrh in the first plane, but
negleoted it,
Can't you realize the awful, horrible
mietako of not During oatarrh now?
To thoroughly root out all taints of
Catarrh, nothing Dau aot so beneficially
as "Catarrhez:nno," whioh is aokuow-
lodged by all doctors to be a epeoifio for
all forms of Catarrh, Asthma, Bron
ohitis,'throat, nose and chest ailments.
The reasons why Oatarrnozone oases
when other treatments fail are very sim-
ple. In the flret place Oatarrnozone4
reaches the frau source of the disease.
Very few, if any, of the ordinary oures
can do this. Oatarrhozone is parried
along with the air you breathe through
the mouth, throat and bronchial tubes,
Its antiseptic vapor at onoe kills any
germs that may be lurking in these air
passages. No matter how remote these
germs may be they can't possibly esoupe
Catarrhozone; it goes everywhere the air
you breathe goes, and no air cell or air
passage oan escape its healing inf!aenee,
The strong point about Oatarrhozone is
its ability to go direct to the spot where
the catarrh germ is working. Every
breath through the inhaler means in-
stant death to the microbes, and gives
the sufferer relief from the gnawing, de-
struotive action of these parasites. It
must be remembered, also, that Oatarrh•
ozone is a marvelous healer. It soothes
the inflamed membranes, patohes up the
little sore spots, and removes the sensi-
tive, tender feeling from the nose and
throat. Of course. the disoharge of mu-
cus stops at once, Oatarrhozone prevents
this eneireiy.
Another nasty symptom that quiokly
disappears is the dropping of vile dis-
charge from the throat into the stom-
ach. Catarrhozone clears out the nos-
trils so that you don't have to breathe
through the month. Hawking and spit-
ting stop because the discharge is olear-
ed up. The blinding headache that is
oansed by nothing else than catarrh is
also lifted from your burden, and life
begins to look happy once more.
Complete treatment, including beauti-
fully polished hard rubber inhaler and
extra supply of liquid, posts $1 00, and
is guaranteed to cure or your money
back. Smaller sizes 25o. and 50c., at all
druggists, or by mail from The Catarrh -
ozone Company, Kingston, Ont.

COW TESTING ASSOCIATIONS.
—COW PROGRESS.
The records of the cow testing as-
sociations show a large increase in the
number of cows whose production, both
as regards weight of milk and butterfat,
is being noted regularly. It is no
wonder that the plan appeals to the
progressive dairymen of Canada, be-
cause record work must mean substan-
tial improvement, and the improved
herd is the herd that produces
economically.
Since commencing records many
farmers have been enabled to increase
the yield of milk and fat per cow cou-
siderably, because instead of contented-
ly saying "so many cows so much
milk," each individual is studied, and
each member of the herd brought up to
a good profit earning capacity. Herds
that used to prodnoe only 187 Ib. fat
are now up to 220 Ib,: milk production
has gone up from 4,850 Ib. to 6,380 ib.
In 1905 one herd averaged 5,8741b. milk,
but in 1008 the owner had brought all
up to 7,240 Ib. milk per cow. One
member in 1003 keeping 9 vows obtained
only 4,360 lb. from each, but in 1908
with 11 cows he had an average yield of
7,000 lb, milk. Cash receipts have in-
creased with another member from $52
per cow in 1905, to $76 in 1908.
Instances might be multiplied, these
few indionte what it means to the real
dairy farmer who reeks improvement.
Time spent in weighing And sampling

PROFANITY AMONG BOYS
A reoout editorial in the Chatham
Planet on profanity among boys, has
caused oonsitierablo comment through-
out the Province. The evil of which it
speaks appears to be widespread; and
Wingham is not exempt. It is shook-
ing sometimes to hear the language that
rolls glibly off the tongues of little boys,
some of them soarcely old enough to
support the dignity of kniokerbookers.
Yet some of these infants can rip oat
oaths that would make an old-time sea
captain turn green with envy. Hardly
able to epoak plainly, they garnish their
conversation with curses; and if you
hear one of them when another young-
ster has just ruffled his temper—well,
you feel like stopping your ears and get-
ting away. How do they learn it? you
ask. Keep their ears open and von will
very soon know. The boys hear what
you hear—men of all ages, that should
have sense, interlarding their converse
tion with oaths and onrses, dragged in
by the heels and serving no purpose.
Tho small boy hears this and tbinking it
manly because men do it, tries to imitate
it, as he imitates everything men do.
It is usually only by chance that parents
detect the praotive and by that time it is
is difficult to break. Some misguided
persons think it outs to hear a ohild
swear, eo they encourage him. But the
time comes when it ceases to be funny ;
by that time the habit has become ao
fixed that it is extremely diffroult to
break. The only cure is to stop it
among the children of a larger growth.
Appoale to common, sense and soft•re-
speot may accomplish something. It is
certainly a difficult matter to adjust.
Free Advertising.
The question of free advertising is a
prolific source of worry to every pub•
licher of a country newspaper. He
does not wish to appear mean or to
offend his friends, and yet he must re-
member that he has to depend upon
the revenue from his paper to provide
his bread and butter, and no small por-
tion of this revenue must be made out
of the advertising. In this office we
have a rule that wherever an admission
fee ie charged to an entertainment or
meeting we charge for all advertising in
oonneotion therewith, excepting where
the printing is done at this office, when
we give gratis a short local. We also
oharge obituary poetry, or any matter
from whioh any person or organization
expects to reap a pecuniary benefit. The
storekeeper is not expected to hand out
free of charge the goods he keeps for
sale; the publisher has his advertising
space for sale and he should not be ex-
pected to give it away free of charge
any more than the merchant is expected
to give away his goods.

THE NOTED STOOK HORSE
" MAITLAND "
Son of Damo, No, 4306, will be at
Lepard's Hotel stables, Wingham, every
Tuesday night during the season.
That Maitland is a genuine stook
horse goes without saying. Many of his
colts having gone to the city at long -
prices, having size, breeding and notion,
which goes to make up the harness
horse.
Farmers and others intending to breed..
their mares to a light horse should see
this stallion before using any other.
