The Wingham Times, 1909-06-17, Page 5Twenty-five years ago it was difficult
to sell spring wheat flour for pastry at
any price.
People didn't want it—they wr e using soft,
winter wheat flour, and saw no reason for

But hard wheat ' ou • was persistently
pushed. The women t d it and succeeded
with it,—to-day hard wheat flour is the favorite
for Pastry as well as for Bread.

Holmes, of Wingham. The churoh was
prettily decorated with white lilacs and
other flowers very tastefully arranged.
The rector, Rev. M. Turnbull, officiated.
and the choir was present to assist in
the servioo. After the ceremony the
wedding party drove to the bride's
home, where usual festivities filled in

The marriage of Thomas Ritchie, of
Brussels, and Miss Laura Oster, of

Oranbrook, on Wednesday, June 9th,
at 6 o'clock, The bride wore a white
Swiss dress, elaborately trimmed with
valenoiennes lace and insertion and also
wore a black picture hat, They were
unattended. The servire was conducted
by Rev. D. B. McRae, pastor of the
bride. A small reception was held at
the home of Frederick Oster, brother
of the bride, after the oeremouy, only
immediate relatives being present. The
happy couple will take up housekeep-

ger was appointed in his stead.
This week Angus Campbell, 12th con.,
disposed of a 9 weeks' old lamb to Baek-

Another of our popular young men
was made happy by the pretty wedding
which took place at the home of Mrs.
Duncan McNair, Con. 14, Grey, when
her youngest daughter, Margaret, was
united in the holy bonds of matrimony
to Robert Rae Houston. As Miss
Gladys Hurley, of Blue Lake, cousin of
the bride, played Lohengrin's Wedding
March the principals took their places
on the lawn under an arch of evergreens
from which was suspended a white
wedding bell. The bride, who was giv-
en away by her mother, wore a very
pretty dress of cream eolienns trimmed
with silk insertion and white bilk direo-
toire sash. She wore a wedding veil
and parried a sheaf of white lilies. Miss
Frances Houstpn, sister of the groom,
was bridesmaid and was becomingly
attired in an Alice bine dress and car-
ried white fillies. Little Miss Florence
McNaughton, of Brussels, dressed in
flowered mull, made a pretty ring bear-
er. John A. McNair, brother of the
bride, very ably supported the groom.
The ceremony was performed by Rev.
D. B. McRae, of Cranbrook. After tea
was served, the evening was spent in
social ohat and dancing. The gifts to
the bride were numerous and handsome.
Groom's gifts to the fiower girl and
organist were whole pearl rings. Mr.
and Mrs. Houston will be at home to
their friends ou their fine farm, 16th
con., Grey. May happiness be theirs.
